  • Saw George Lynch last night

He was a one of Tampa Sam Ashs doing a guitar clinic.

Always being an admirer of his playing and saw him several times while at Dokken.
Pretty cool guy, cracked a few jokes and steped in it a couple of times but all in all cool guy. I detected a hint of cockiness, but hey! how's on the stage and who is watching him play?

Started a bit rusty playing over backing tracks. Once he warmed up you knew the dude up there wasn't messing around. Showing his age, but who doesn't? He was playing through his Randall Lynch Box through a Randall sig cab as well. The mix was bad but you have to consider this a big box retailer.

I would like to mess with the amp on my own before I give a full verdict. That dude could play through a 9V Gorilla practice amp and kick must butts any given night.
He had his old Yellow bengal, body as he told from Grover Jackson's discarded bodies box. The axe had a newer neck with the most recent ESP heasdstock. He also played his new ESP distressed Sig V, not my cup of tea.

Stayed until the end and got an autograph, he shook every one's had and did PLENTY of small talk. Considering the dude was sharp on time @ 7:00 P.M. played for just about 1 hour and 30 minutes, answered many questions and then signed autographs until about 9:15 P.M. I say he was pretty cool for your typical "rockstar". I heard from one of the guys at Sam Ash that he came stright from the airport and at that time he had not gotten dinner. I would have a been a grumpy fucker if I had to go that long without chow.

I consider it a night well spent.

I saw George at a guitar clinic a few years ago as well as at NAMM at several booths over the years. Always sticks around and talks to people, does the autograph signing deal, etc... He was always smokin' on guitar too!
Some other "Rock Stars" could learn a thing or two from George on how to make fans feel appreciated as well as how to shred. He is very professional!

Oh yeah, the Lynch Box is baaically an RM100 and sounds great!

Saw him over a year ago and walked out..he played and sounded horrible.

      The local opener sounded better..

I seen George and Dokken several times and thought Reb covered the classic material better than George did..Don Agreed..

George WAS a influence of mine back in the day when he was on his game..that day came and went far as I'm concerned.

Some players get better with age..some don't...such is life.

Definitely not the night Cleveland John and I saw him..

I do have all his stuff..and his skills have diminished.

I think he peaked on LM's second, then Sacred Groove..and hasn't been the same GL since..IMO.

I met him on the same tour in 2005 that horns saw him on. Lynch kicked ass the night I saw him, and did a killer meet and greet with the fans after the show. I'm still amazed at how cool he was to me and the other fans when metaljunkie and I met him.

Yeah...I'll post and crow about this pic till the day I die!!!

                    Thanks

What was so cool about it was that he was letting the fans meet him in on the tour bus because it was colder than blue blazes outside. That picture was taken of us sitting in the back of his tour bus. I don't know how many artists would do that for their fans, but I'm sure it's not too many.

I´d love to see a clinic with Lynch, anytime. To be honest I haven´t heard much of his playing after the first Lynch Mob album, but I´m sure he can still rip if he´s on his game. Back when I first started getting the hang of playing leads he was a major influence, and to this day most of my Floyd-moves are lifted from his playbook.
