I was in a band with Jamie Clark..Gilby's bro.

Gilby would jam with us on occassion..and we NEVER took him seriously because he blew ass.. but his lil' bro was a KILLER drummer!

That was 1985 and just learned "Shy Boy" and we were playing Loudness, Ratt, Dokken, Rough Cutt , VH and ect..and this fucker could barely play a box shape..

He goes to LA joins a fag band called "Candy"..then "Kills for Thrills"..then you know who..

He got better over the years..but talk about "luck" and being at the right place at the right time.

Take Mick Mars and Kirk for example..you got to give them credit for writing that stuff..but play the "what if's"..what if Warren D or George L was in Motely Crue..wouldn't they write a BETTER solo that fits the song..my guess would be yes.

What if Marty Freidman or Jason Becker was the lead guitarist for Metallica..huh...eh....???

Some people LOVE Neil Young..in my standard of playing/writing..he blows wand..but he wrote crap alot of people like..so..WTF?

Well if George L was the guitarist for MC..it would sound like Dokken with Vince singing..

If Freidman was in Metallica..it would sound more like Megadeth..or close to it.

So everybody has their place..be it a "sloppy" slow handed motherfucker..or some kid that can shred balls while playing with a yo-yo (Becker)..

that goes into the "why didn't I think of that" catagory..

Many musicians .."good" ones..push their ablilities..which is great..but in the end..it's ALL about the song..

I like a good balance of that!

It took me a long time to "get" Neil Young. He's not a particularly good singer or guitar player by most definitions. But that dude can sit down all by himself with just an acoustic guitar and deliver the goods. He plays and sings from the heart and can tell a story. In his music, that is all that is necessary. The music scales up and down really well too - it is complete whether it's just him or if he's got a full band. It only took me 20 years to appreciate Neil Young

that being said.... it would never happend because Dokken's music was all Don's idea.... George had way different musical approach.... compare Dokken to Lynch Mob..... one is soft Euro-metal.... the other is groove oriented and blues based kick ass hard rock.

This is true..but his sig would definitely be quite blatant..if that were the case.

I love what Steve Stevens did on Vince Neil's 1st cd "exposed"..there is some serious tone and playin' on that sumbitch!
