It's easier to play it in D standard (Dr. Feelgood, anyway), but if I'm
in standard tuning I'll just drop the low E to D and deal with it. The mixed pentatonics still make the same shapes,(unless I've just been playing it wrong all this time).

Seems this thread keeps turning back to guitar heros, not underrated guitarists. I was guilty with Tipton. I'll stand by Billy Squire, though. I didn't expect him to be that good. Bryan Adams was also a bit better than expected. Seems only guitarists got into Marino. I got my share-I loved his tone. There a whole bunch in pop music that didn't get a chance to stretch out on the albums, I'm sure.

      • Most Underated Guitar Players

I couldn't read through all of the posts, so forgive me if there is duplication.

Here are a few that come to mind:

        Adrian Vandenberg
        Criss Oliva (Savatage)
James Byrd (1st Fifth Angel CD rules!)
Joey Taffola (check out "The Fourth Judgement!")
        Chris Broderick (Jag Panzer/Nevermore)
Robert Marcello (current Danger/Danger and clinician for various companies)
        David Scott (Tuff Luck)

              • I'm halfway through a Motley bootleg, Live at Tacoma. It's actually professionally shot and is a good quality rip. Anyway as far as holding down the rhythm Mick's good but whenever he's up for a solo he almost as bad as me (which is bad). :ROTF:

I love Mick and stand by my earlier posts but damn some of those solo's are hilariously bad.

                Long live the Crue

                    • I don't know that Gary Hoey was underrated. More like either just flat out unknown or ignored. The niche market for shred metal surf tunes and christmas carols is surprisingly small for some reason. He's good though.

                      • Has anybody mentioned Ed Wynne from Ozric Tentacles yet?

                        Well, I just did.

                        Oh and Mike Keneally.

                        • Some of the players that I think didn't or don't get enough credit:

                          Ronni LeTekro (TNT)
                          Marc Richard Diglio (XYZ)
                          Alex Masi
                          Roland Grapow (Masterplan, ex-Helloween)
                          Gus G. (Firewind)
                          Rex Carroll (Whitecross)
Takeoffs are optional but landings are mandatory.
