My brother met Dokken (his favorite band at the time) back in the 80s when they played in New Orleans. He said all the guys were very humble and gracious towards the fans, except Don, who sat there silently with a scarf around his neck looking around like he didn't want to be there.

Don Dokken was my brother's favorite singer at that time, so you can imagine what it's like to be snubbed like that.

I have that video from way back. George and Jeff were goofing around on the European tour in like 87 or so.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

I've met him several times at NAMM plus a guitar clinic locally about 4 years ago. Always courteous to the fans and never saw him bail out once as long as there were people waiting to meet him.

Yep fully agree, I've had the same experiences with Lynch. Always friendly & talkative...remember these are PEOPLE.

They sometimes have bad days just like the rest of us.

The Wife and I were VIP guests of theirs. We were on their bus, back stage and on stage for hours. Jeff Pilson was the coolest of them all..he came running and gave me a big hug when he saw me walk in. Then me and the wife sat with Reb and his wife while he was warming up..he's a sick player..nobody knows how sick until you talk to him while he's playing..where you can't pay attention to the convesation because he is playing the craziest shit without even thinking about it...that fucked me up!

I loved George Lynch..he was one of the most influential players of mine. You can still hear some of his shit in my playing. But I saw him about two years ago with John. It was a very intimate club setting..I was right in front of him while he was playing. I was so disappointed, I had to walk out and did.

There was a day when I wouldn't think of picking up a guitar around a guy like George Lynch....those days are long over.

Now, I prolly wouldn't want tp pick up a guitar around Reb..but that's a different story!

Saw Lynch on a Sam Ash guitar clinic three or four weeks ago.
Very cool guy and took time to shake everyone's hand afterwards and had a little chat with whoever wanted to. He was funny while on the mic and very candid on his talk to the crowd.

I have always admired his playing and he's still got it for sure. He will be the first to acknowledge that his technique is a sald mix of everyone from EVH to RR to the oldies. But he way he put it together made it his.

Years and years ago myself and a buddy of mine went to the hotel Dokken was staying at after the gig. The bus pulls up and the guys step off. Dokken ignores everyone and goes right for some chick. After a minute or two we hear him mumble some curse words and storm inside. He was and still is a dickhead IMO. The rest of the guys stayed out in the parlking lot with us and about 10 other people for almost an hour just bullshitting. They started to take us all upstairs with them to party but the tour manager at the time wasn't having it. He said he didn't feel like having to wake their hung over asses up in the morning.

the next time Dokken was in town a buddy of mine and I went down to the club early in the afternoon to see if we could talk to George. My buddy had(and still has) his Skull & Swords ESP. We went in and were in a line of about 5 people. Lynch looked back and saw my buddy with his guitar. Lynch immediately called us up there, looked at my friends axe and said " can I play it, I've never played one of the production models". I was quite surprised by that comment. My bud hands his guitar over and Lynch grabs his and says "here, play mine". They sat there and jammed for about 45 minutes while I watched in awe. Lynch is definitely one of the coolest guitar guys I've had the privilege to meet.

Great story. I know Lynch was into body building for some time. Anyone know if he's still buff?
