I started watching that live concert, somewhat enthused, however, I became bored with it, by the end, and ended up FF through alot of the songs. VR has been kinda hit-or-miss for me. I ran right out and bought the first album, based on hearing "Slither". Some of the songs, I dig, some I don't. Based on the new songs I just heard on this performance, I'm not certain if I will by the second release or not. Anorexic Scott and his snake-dancing kinda annoys me. I just don't hear alot of fire in his performance, or the rest of the band, for that matter, much unlike GNR, and I HATED "Asl", still do.

I also agree with alot of people on this board, i was a huge guns fan and so much wanted to love VR, however besides a few songs I just really cant get into them.

Somethings just goto together, axl and slash, peanut butter and jelly, steak and garlic bread.

i think to love vr u have to love modern mainstream - indoie orientated rock... i'm guessing that given the average age of the guys on this board most ppl aren't gonna be the biggest of fans...whereas i imagine most of us love the sleaze roc and glam metal scene that spawned gnr

well I like a lot of modern indie alt rock, etc, and IMO, VR is not even in that ball park.

they just fail to impress somehow, sorry.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

Yeah, I don't hear indie in just about anything that's theirs.

kinda funny that these days people use all these words like indie and emo without even knowing what they mean

every band who doesn't have a major record contract is indie

but when it comes to indie rock or indie pop than these guys (Velvet Revolver) are the EXACT OPPOSITE of it... they are cool, cocky, sleazy, have loads of attitude etc. you know typical rock'n'roll badasses who are into partying and fucking, their music is ballsy and in your face.

indie rock is anti-debauchery r'n'r lifestyle, the music is very laid back and kinda "wuzzy", nerdy clothing style and the people are trying to have "intellectual" conversations unlike rockers who are into chaos and everything else wich is cool and illeagal lol
Actually extreme metal has a lot more incommong with indie culture than bands like VR and whatnot.

                        ???

where i'm from indie is tits like pete docherty, bands like the libertines, artic mokeys, snow patrol etc..... and none of them are really lke what u describe them as, as they all seem to have major labels and big albums, and they're really not cool (well to most of us metalheads anyway) although yes the do attempt to have intelectual conversations, they seem to were brown alot (eugh) and their idea of 'fucking metal' is chop suey by system of a down, and mainstream stuff like rage againt the machine and velvet revolver, which sadly get played to the point of boredom......its them that seem to be making vr big over hear...they seem to love it...whereas more discerning metalheads much prefer gnr

(this might not be the case for the whole uk tho as i can't generalsise a whole country, but it appears that way in the midlands at least)

                          uh what are you talking?

everyone who isn't under a major label is indie... wheter it's latin, jazz, metal or pop.

indie rock or indie pop as a musical styles are opposite what Velvet Revolver (cool and cocky and all the r'n'r stuff) is.

read my post again.... indie rock/pop is anti-cool and anti-badass attitude.

ok maybe its different where u are....where i'm from indie is its own musical style....if u called metal ppl indie here ur very likely to get lynched lol

and if u read my post i never called vr indie, i just noted how all the indie kids seem to love them more than anybody else round here

first, I never get lynched I'm the one who does the lynching

second, I've never said that metal is indie musical style... but most metal indeed are under indie labels.

third, indie (music style) folks and metal folks are more similar compared to loud and troublemaking rockers lol
