I saw the show in Southhaven, MS. Missed most of Ratt b\c I had a conference call with my boss...I did see Lay It Down and Round and Round and a few more. I was disappointed with Warren...he was better last time with Jizzy. Stephen still can't sing, but he never could live, could he? I too was never a big Poison fan (but got laid to it a lot), but they still give 110%. CC seems to have improved, but damn he overplays. And there's no way he could finish a song without a whammy bar.

Actually, he's not bad. He was better last year with Cinderella, but this year it was probably 95 with high humidity and it was tough. But you gotta give it to him, he enjoys the shit out of it. There's tons of better players who never played out of their bedroom. I just think he tries too hard to overcome his image. But he is a showman, and that's what it's all about...most of the great shredders haven't played to an audience like he did in Southhaven, and he's been doing it for 20 years.

Saw them last night. About got in a fight with some dickhead who was pissed that everyone was standing up. I guess he wanted to sit down and he got very vocal about it. So I got vocal back and it almost came to blows. Man, I'm gettting too old for that shit...
Never got backstage. And was too far away to see what CC was using. But his rig was sidestage. If I had a decent set of binocs I could have seen. I had my wife with me, the tickets were her birthday present. We had a good time...
Ratt sounded good. Well, after the Front Of House guy figured it out. The first 3 songs they sounded like shit. So I go up to him and start yelling at him to figure it out. Get bad service, you gotta complain, right? So I did. Stephen sounded great. I was a bit worried about that. But he brought it as did Warren. They sounded great. Best band there...
Great White? No thanks. Way too much treble and no bass. My ears still feel it. But then again, I was never a Great White fan. Never will be...
Dokken. OK, who is touring with Don? I thought Mick Brown was with them, but he wasn't. At least not on this gig. Looked like Vikki Fox from Enuff Z Nuff. At least he drumed like Vikki. I'm not sure if that was Reb on guitar either. Straight reddish hair. He played a gray Snakeskin either Fender or Charvel. Couldn't tell from where we were sitting. He sounded good. But I don't know who it was. He pulled off the solo to "Tooth and Nail" pretty good so I was somewhat impressed...
Vains of Jenna were decent. I wonder if this is a sign of things to come. I met a buddy of mine there who has some connections in the industry. He says alot of bands getting signed look and sound like those guys. Old school sleeze. I think we might see more bands like that. That's fine by me...
Oh yeah, Poison. They were OK. CC is pretty cool. He does overplay. I think he's better when he slows it down a bit. I did like him singing the song "I Hate Every Bone In Your Body But Mine" after his solo. Where did that song come from? His tone is pretty good. Brett Michaels is a Billy Ray Cirus wannabe. Two stepping and all. I've never been a fan of his. But his voice sounds pretty good. Bobby Dahl is a rock star. He has the attitude and look of an old school rock star. That's cool. Rikki is Rikki. Not much to say about him. Who is the dude playing Keyboards on stage? Never seen that before...
All in all it was a good time. I'd do it again...I'm angry because you're stupid

like, i know he's kinda sloppy and overplays like crazy but, is that mostly why people don't like him?
or is he really as awful as people make him out to be?
Regardless, I'ld buck up to see Poison again. It was nothing but a good time.
After seeing Ratt for the umptenth times in 2005 and 2007. I have to say this. Somebody in that band has GOT to write a new fricking song or do a cover or something NEW or something. Posion made them look like an opening band all over again. I don't know if modern media will ever welcome guitar rock back ever again....but they need to figure a plan to get something together. Free show at the county fair is one thing but, I don't think I'd actually put in the effort to see them in a venue again.

Don sounded like shit. I'll say it. But I remember when they opened up for KISS on the Animalize tour at Vets Auditorium in 1985(?) and Don sounded like that then too. Not a strong singer live by any means. Levin did a good job. But sometimes I wish he'd quit posing and just play. I mean, Come on dude...
Anyone else get pissed when Stephen kept refering to Robbin Crosby? Being his birthday and all. I guess I shouldn't get too worked up but come on! They were not even at his funeral. So to keep refering to him seemed somewhat disrespectful. But he is a big part of Ratts history so I should just get over it...I'm angry because you're stupid

No offense, but it sounds like you were in a generally pissy mood overall last night.

No offense taken. That happens when I get Beer spilled on me. See I quit drinking years ago and have very little tollerance for drunk people. So it's not the best place to be, at a concert. But I do what I can. Sometimes I can be childish about it. But I don't want to stay home either. So I need to get over it...
I'm not bagging on Stephen. I actually took me back a bit. I would have figured he wouldn't have mentioned him at all. But I didn't know it was his birthday. And your right, he is a HUGE part of RATT. I loved Robin. Always will. The last years of his life are very sad. Oh well, what can you do???
On another note. Was Jon Levin in Europe? I remember that name from somewhere...I'm angry because you're stupid

BTW - I hear you on the beer/drunk people thing. That's a big part of why I don't go out to live shows much any more.
