  • They Ruled The Earth In The 70's-80's.

The best club band there ever was....I was fortunate enough to be involved for a short time in the early 80's......

We opened for RRC many times. They were really good but I think the best club band back at that time was Twisted Sister. Zebra, TT Quick, Split Sidney, The Good Rats and Black Lace were really good too.

Zebra was probably the best sounding club band.
Twisted Sister was the absolute best time and absolutely the loudest club band by far.

I saw Zebra at LAmours in 1987, that was a great show.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

Great band! My favorite club band back then was Harpo.

          Yep! I remember those guy's.

If you remember Harpo, you might remember Hybrid Ice. They were out of the Bloomsburg, PA area and I think they played most of the East Coast in the early 80's.

I wasn't east coast until the mid 80's. The name does ring a bell though. Any chance they made it down to North Carolina around that time?

Oh man, you are bringing back memories!! I saw Twisted Sister here on Long Island many times during the late 70's. They were unbelievable back then. What an experience standing 2 feet away from the band while they were playing to the local club crowd. Saw them at Hammerheads and a couple of other places I can't remember (I had fun in those days!) I remember seeing Dee Snider sometimes in the mornings driving his old beat up car on the Southern State Pkwy while I used to drive to college.

I used to see Zebra alot too. Great band then, and I'm looking forward to seeing them this month in Sayville. Can't wait.

Spent a lot of times at L'amour and L'amour east too. Saw some great bands there too. Does anyone from the NYC, LI area remember February's in Elmont, NY??? I spent a large part of my youth there. Had a friend who was involved with a band or two that played there (a Van Halen cover band with a chubby guitarist that was GREAT!) I actually ran ito Eric Carr from KISS there one night. He was there to check out a band named Blacklace (good band, HOT lead singer.) I was the only one who recognized him because they had just "unmasked" a week earlier. He was real cool, hung out at the bar with us and told us about the "Lick it Up" tour he was rehearsing for. Nice guy.

                Fun memories!!

It's possible. They played gigs all the way to Florida from what I understand. I have one of their 2 albums (33-1/3) They were a progressive rock band. The album was recorded in 1982. Yeah, they were great. I just checked, they were from Danville, PA.

Edit: Wow, they are doing reunion tours! http://www.hybridice.net/index.html I should have done a search before I started posting! Anyone in the North Eastern, Central, PA and NJ should check these guy's out at a concert. I did sound for them at a couple of outdoor concerts in 1983.
