If you've seen Jimmy play In My Time Of Dieing and Kashmir you can see him play thru his Danelectro. But i´m not that common with Danelectros and I have a question, are alla Danelectro guitars cheap or are there higher end models? I wan´t to get a guitar to play with slide on since my other guitars have too much low action to play good with a slide and I think that this one will be great.

original vintage Dano's are rare and $$$$$$.

the more recent reissues are cheap and fun to mess around with.

Dano's are/were always chep guitars, but they had a sound of their own and were actually fairly well made given the cheap materials that were used. FWIW, the neck on Randy's polka-dot V was from a Dano.

Old ones are collectible but are still fairly cheap compared to other vintage guitars. The newer ones were built very close to the old ones and sounded great. I had several but I'm down to one now...a great playing/sounding 56U2. If you are loking for a good slide guitar, I would recommend one. I used to even use mine live. It was funny having guitarists question me as to how I could use a $300 Dano alongside of a $3000 Anderson in the same gig The answer? TONE!!!

I had a recent DC-12 (double-cutaway 12-string black/white) and sold it on Ebay a couple years ago for about $600 IIRC.

Something happened to drive up demand for them - they were selling for $300 or less, then one day I look and the prices were escalating.

The one Page played was a standard shorthorn 3021. It's actually a mutt, according to guitarist magazine. They are somewhat rare, but apparently worth about 1500 us bucks.

Cool, I didn't want to feel bad for having a cheap guitar, but if tone it good... then thats all it matters!!!

BTW, should you upgrade the pickups or the factory ones will give me that particular slide guitar tone?

the lipsticks that comes with danos are great so you dont to replace them

yeah those pickups with that body construction is what makes it a Dano and gives it that signature tone. don't mess w/ it

I wasn't going to put EMGs on it!!! I'm not playing Slayer thru it jeje. I just want to play Kashmir, In My Time Of Dieing, Rag Doll, and stuff like that with it.

A shop here had a couple Dano's for $200 and they sold fast IIRC. They are awesome bang for your buck guitars and have great vibe to them.
