Gillis (sister christian) Vai on call it sleep and on the flexable record are my favs for that style of play. all about the control and phrasing.
Honorable mention to Mr. Floyd Rose himself
Did we leave out John Petrucci???? He doesn't even use a Floyd these days (he's a Wilkinson guy...but this doesn't seem to hurt his ability to whammy!!!!!!!)
Kerry King is a bad ass! I think it's just a matter of if your a fan of Slayer or not is what you need to ask yourself first! I saw him a cpl years ago on a BC Rich tour and the dude was one of the baddest I've seen in person that's for sure! He played mostly freestyle until others from the crowd would go and join him to do play the Slayer stuff! But the dude was really smooth!! He was also tapping flawlessly with all 5 fingers on his picking hand, which was something I"ve never seen any body do!

(you only have 4 fingers on your hand, unless you are some kind of freak, a thumb is not a finger)
also, Steve Lynch litterally wrote the book on tapping, especially 8 fingered
Kerry King
and the very under-rated Gary Holt of Exodus.
Oh, and Vito Bratta.
you beat me to it bro. Vito Bratta this guy is amazing on the whammy and on the guitar period. i love his work on the radar love remake his harmonics will blow you away on that song.

A thumb is a finger if your Jimi Hendrix, he uses his quite adeptly, he had some serious mits on him, not to mention his whammy assault on the world. Jimi is God.
Did he have it done across the middle of his arse, with the letter G on one cheek, and the letter D on the other, so that when he bends over it says GOD?
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!
Checking through all the posts in this thread I see no one mentioned Jason Becker. He used the bar to great effect IMO. Really love the way he would "scoop" into/ pull up from the intended note. Great touch and control with the bar.
