Eclipse is probably my favorite Yngwie album. And Bedroom eyes rocks. great tune. I have everything he's done upto Attack. Including the concerto for Electric guitar. Which is cool. It used to get weird looks when i played it in the warehouse. Until i told them it was Yngwie. Then they'd just say :oh go figure". lol Yeah Go figure. I didn't see the pont in gettin gthe comilations disks. tho. Since there was no new matterial on them.
The three clips on his sight for Unleash the fury dont sound too bad. Guardian Angel sounds very cool.

if you're gonna get into Yngwie, as a guitarist, you should start with his first 2 albums.

            Yngwie J. Malmsteen's Rising Force
            and
Yngwie J. Malmsteen's Rising Force, Marching Out.

these two cover his brilliance in both instramentals and rock songs.

I'm still VERY fond of his work in Alkatrazz..I wore that record out! But his first two are the shit!!!

Steeler was just a vehicle to introduce him in the states. He was in Silver Mountain with the Johansson bros prior to that. A college station played "Cold Day in Hell" when that record came out early '83..my jaw dropped to the floor. Which didn't happen since I heard Ed in '78..

There was alot of great new players such as Randy, Brad Gillis, Jeff Watson, Lynch, Sykes, Gary Moore, ect..but Ed and Yngwie just floored me. Ironically I read that Ritchie walked away from Eddie when he wanted to meet him..and Eddie walked away from Yngwie when he wanted to meet him...if I remember right.

Yngwie states that his main influences were Paganini, Hendrix and Blackmoore. I personally think he took more from Uli Roth including his band name "Rising Force". That's the title of the artwork on Uli's 1978 solo debut "Earthquake". The cover art was done by Uli's gilfriend who actually was Jimi's girlfriend. I read she commited suicide not long too long ago. He took it hard and moved to Wales and set up his studio there.

Uli already had ALL the ingredients for Lars Johan Yngwie Lannerback (Yngwie's real name) ..Classical, Hendrix-Blues and Rock..

Yngwie always mentions Uli as a influence now..but he rarely used to.

well Uli was doing Yngwie before yngwie. I think the main influence for both of them are classical music and thats why you see the comparisions. I dont care for either Yngwie or Uli when they try to be too rockish or commercial, if I want to hear a Hendrix vibe I'll listen to Hendix or SRV

I also agree that the the Live Alcatrazz album is the shit but as Dreamland put it...ths rising force and marching out are the main two albums. The Live Evil Ey from the livce alcatrazz album is what turned me on to Yngwie...totally floored. I thought Steeler blew goat balls cant stand keel as a vocalist but oh well...

the blackmnore thinhg I dont really get other than both Yngwie and Blackmore have a revolving door of vocalists and musicians as their egos push people away Jeff Scott Soto to me wasa perfect match for Yngwies syle of non-instrumental music

Yeah Shawn..exactly! I'm not crazy when Uli does his hendrix tribute stiff but love it when he sticks to od scorpions and his classical influnenced stuff..same with Yngwie.

I hate Ron Keels voice..he trulu did sucks balls. Steeler was just a steeping stone for Mike Varney to get Yngwie here..

I have and play "live Sentence" all the time. But you can't beat his first two solo cd as a introducton to YJM..those are timeless. I think Eclipse and other early 90's releases actually show their age in a few places. I love of people love him..but I never cared too much for Joe Lynn Turn..and I have alot of stuff with him on it..he's alright. Jeff Scott Sotto and Jorne Lande was the singers for YJM. Well, until Jorn lost it in Cleveland and jump on Yngwie. He was hauled away by police. Man, if I was one of those cops I'd be laughing my ass off, asking for his autograph and telling him he rules!!!
