  • Im gona jack this thread a bit more.

Great thread. Lots of interesting views and bantor. Personally, If you dont like ACDC, its prob because Yngwie wasnt in the band. Once you get past the fact that you may consider yourself to be a better guitarist than Angus, then you will have to admit that they have written some of the most memorable classic rock tunes ever. With a big period. Def Leppard....Had their moments, but never that high in my book. I owned The first two albums..after that, It was a bit too bubble gum, kind of lost its soul.

Anyways...HEHEHE Back on topic. Good for Dio.

Slayer - Metal band (Music to kill your parents by)

Winger - NOT a metal band (Music to hit on 17 year old jailbait)

Megadeth - Metal band (Music to smash your dad's head through the TV by)

Posion - NOT a metal band (Music to practice putting on your makeup)

S.O.D. - Metal band (Music to Fuck the Middle East with)

Bon Jovi - NOT a metal band (Music to run away at 14 by, because your parents "just don't understand" you)

Pantera - Metal band (THE soundtrack to an ass-beating... try it! Any ass beating in history will sync up to a Pantera song!)

Britney Fox - NOT a metal band (Music that gets you laughed at by metal-heads)

Anthrax - Metal band (Music to Spread Diseases with)

Cinderella - NOT a metal band (Music you try to explain to the girl who's pants you are trying to get into "really speaks to how I feel about you")

Metallica - In the 80's they were still a metal band (Music to stick up someones ass)

Great White - NOT a metal band (but made you wish you played bluesy rock to get the chicks they had in their videos!)

Mercyful Fate - Metal band (Music to worship Satan by, and be scared of your grandma)

But Def Leppard??? Def Leppard??? C'mon, ... Def Leppard????

Def Leppard - candy coated pop-rock which was out metalled by the likes of ...oh, let's say, how about, STRYPER .. hahaha (yes those bumblebee outfit wearing, jackson playing, jesus loving, mesa boogie having god rockers who loved to strap on way too tight and inappropriate leather pants that would show the outline of their schlongs while thrusting them at young japanese girls in the audience) .. yep, outdone by the Yellow and Black Attack ...ahahahaha....

        Metal indeed.
        HAHAAAAA!!!!!!:ROTF: :ROTF: :ROTF:
That was fuckin funny. I feel like carving that into a wall somewhere!

Now that I'm older my musical tastes have broadened out a bit. I try not to beatup on other people's music, and I try to credit talent where credit is due. However, the above post states exactly where my head was in the '80s and most of the '90s. I guess it still is to some extent.

And that's what I mean about "the right deal"

I've been watching for the Suhr's as well but they rarely surface.

Britny Fox! There’s a name that brings back memories. They used to be regulars at The Empire Rock Club here in Philadelphia. The booking agent at the Empire wasn’t too bright because he sometimes booked them with thrash bands. Every time Britny Fox stopped playing, half of the crowd mercilessly heckled them, and the band just stood there with this “What The Fuck” look on their face, but they never said anything back. It was kinda hilarious though because people kept yelling shit at them through their whole set, and no one could stop it. It’s funny how things go around in a circle though. I remember the mid’90s when thrash started to become obsolete. In fact, it started to become a dirty word. If you even mentioned an ’80s thrash band in some Death Metal circles you could get lynched or laughed out of the room. I didn’t mind though. I guess I understood what was going on. I still like both genres.

Coverdale did an excellent job on Deep purple's "burn" album. I really liked the MK2 line up, but I think Coverdale managed to fill Ian Gillan's shoes. It's one of my favs. White Snake had a lot of good stuff too. That song "Still of the Night" rocks.

Damn skippy they're a metal band, they just got caught up in the Glam bandwagon 'cos of the catchy hooks in the songs. ( And the fact that everybody's girlfriend fancied Seb Bach...)
Slave To The Grind is one of the all-time great metal albums

                        • Ok, I have a couple points to make out......ok, to the hijackers debate:
Thru the 80's I saw Def Lep every time they came thru town....and although they were good, it was basically a pop-rock show to go to pick up big haired scantily clad hot slutty 80's chicks. I don't care about album sales and I don't know the legistics, but I also went to every Crue show that came thru as well. Musically, they were better, put on a better show, had better looking, sluttier chicks in the crowd and although they did get poppy, there were always those songs with an edge as well........so from expierience.....history tells me, Crue owns them.

I remember some of those nights, actually, for those who don't know, Cinderella came out of the Empire first, and Mike and the original drummer from Britny were the original players for Cinderella, but the label said they "didn't fit the look" so they were shown the door that's where Fred Coury and Jeff Labar came in. Britny Fox was formed immediately after and it did not take long for them to get signed after that, so there really weren't too many of those nights you spoke of. Billy Childs is a good friend of mine and the rest of my band. He actually played with us for a couple years, and is one of the coolest motherfuckers you'd ever meet I can guarantee that for sure. And yes, I know the Heaven's Edge guys too.....lol Reggie is an amazing player for sure.

Ok back to the real topic here......Vivian is a douchebag...end of story.
Dio is a great guy, plus his niece, although she has a butterface is a great slutty pornstar named Gen Padova....check her out.
Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!
