It's quite possible that Dio didn't realize he was being filmed/recorded. Doesn't really excuse his comments regarding Def Lep, I agree, but I honestly doubt he ever imagined those comments would be all over YouTube!!

Vivian has slagged everybody he has EVER played with, even Def Leppard who he's with now. He bitches that they don't pay him enough. He disses metal and the fans who revere him for his work with Dio. He likes to fuck 13 and 14 year old girls when he can get away with it.

So I'm with Dio on this one, after years of restraint and in a casual setting he said what he really thinks one time. Viv has been talking shit that maligned not only his benefactor but his fans for all these years.

And after what, 15 years in Def Leppard, he still can't or won't play the Steve Clark parts correctly? WTF? I could see that if he came up with something better but that certainly hasn't been the case.

This was the first I heard about the Dio Viv thing, but I think Dio was a bit in the wrong to bring Def Leppard into it as I have seen interviews with the other guys and they have said nothing but glowing things about Dio and having a great time with Dio fans that come to the shows. Of cours it's been years since I have really followed DL so who knows whats been said. But if he's got a bone to pick with Viv he has ever right to tear him a new anus.

I don't think I have ever heard or read an interview with Dio where he's ever had anything less the tactful (if not complete kind) things to say about anyone, so to see this I think it's go further then just feeling disrespected, I think Viv actually hurt the guys feelings.

Actually, he was a Les Paul guy before he joined Dio. He recorded the Holy Diver album with a LP and used one on the first tour.

That's it in a nutshell. He basically demanded a pay raise and was turned down and given his walking papers.

Vivian Campbell plays in a pussy ass lame band. At 60+ years old, Dio still rocks it with the father of heavy metal. I think that's about all there is to say really.

That's surprising to hear come from his mouth.

Viv probably has some legit reasons to hate Dio, but he's just gone so overboard about it for so long, so publicly, that he's frigged himself.

I read an interview where he said that he has yet to make 50 cents as a 'name' musician. Dio probably did completely hose him, but he then joined a commercial rock band well into the downside of their career and selling zero records, and abandoned the guitar style that got his name in the press in the first place. What is that going to bring in? He is one dude that has no clue how to cash in on his abilities and the chances that he had.

When he left Dio he was a guitar hero with a lot of fans. He pissed that away pretty quick.

Viv comes off as a bit of a whiner who screwed up the big opportunity his tenure in Dio gave him. Not a class move by Dio, but he's had to put up with nasty public comments by Viv over the years.

From everything that I've heard, Dio has a legit gripe againt Viv. That isn't to say that Viv doesn't have a bit of a point, too. But my understanding is Viv took a business disagreement over monetary terms and made it into a very public, very personal one.

Not to mention that, for many years now, Viv seems to slag everything about metal in general. He pretty much treats it with disdain. And he seems to have forgetten that he would have no "stardom" whatsoever without it - especially his start in Dio - and that it still pays his freakin' bills through DefLep. Quite frankly, the dude seems seems to have an ungrateful, petulant bad attitude.

I was lucky enough to have spent some time with Dio when I was at GIT in 88. He's probably one of the nicest people I've ever met. Never met Vivian, but Dio was about as professional and sincere as I've seen.

    WOW!

I've met Dio a handful of times over the last 20+ years, he's one of the few guys that seems to "get" the "treat the fans with respect, they'll buy your music and hit your shows". Is he a megalomaniac? You bet - Iommi and Blackmore couldn't stand him - but look at his formula for success - seems to have worked.

Viv owes everything he has to Dio...when he picked him out of Sweet Savage, he had maybe 2 nickels to rub together...one other thing that rubs me the wrong way is the dissing of Charvels in favor of Les Pauls, because he's a big-time "blues guy" now.

    Riverdogs = Poo....

Wow...I guess THAT'S been on my mind for a while, thanks for letting me unload... :ROTF:
