He's definitely made a name for himself in the world of classic rock because of the hits he wrote in the ‘70s and ‘80s. I think he deserves a lot of credit for that alone. I assume most guitarists are familiar with his distinct lead style. I can see why any guitarist interested in Latin and rock music would put him at the top of their favorites list. He also has a few good jazz albums. He may be more versatile that most people think.
