  • The other side of Petrucci

Here's an older one that you should all be able to appreciate.

An amazing solo from John Petrucci at the end of the song "To Live Forever".Taken from Images And Words Live In Tokyo DVD.

    Can anyone say: MELODY!
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

that's a great vid and a great solo, because of the way it's presented.

I hate wank-fests with no melody or sense of purpose (most extended solos from the 80's).
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

That is probably the gheyist dream theater promo pic I've ever seen. This guy used to have long hair and a unibrow. What happened?
I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

Unibrows are manly as hell. The only thing more manly than unibrows are roundhouse kicks to the face. Would he...*gasp*...shave it off?!?

OMG...I used to be "self conscious" about my "unibrow".
Thanks for letting me know I'm "manly" with it.
Now I have a "guy crush" on myself...

                          Thanks GodOfRhythm, that was excellent.

I like the "accompanied" guitar solo- much more interesting.
Petrucci dispalyed good phrasing, musical sense and a great tone!
Also, very cool how he basically played much more "major" sounding
licks and threw in some jazzier lines at the end.
Broke the norm of the blazing minor-tinged solo guitar spot.
                          GM,
