He really is full of himself eh?
Good read though, almost seemed like it was a joke! Its almost like he thinks he singlehandedly invented modern rock guitar.Last edited by RobRR; 11-06-2007, 05:38 PM.Imagine, being able to be magically whisked away to... Delaware. Hi... Im in... Delaware...

I love how every guitar or guitar parts Eddie ever thought of, or may have thought of, or didn't even think of, is "his design."
the total lack of humility and lack of perspective kinda takes something away from the whole VH experience IMO.the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

I think this pretty much sums up the answers for the last 20 years of VH.
GP: Do you get enough time to yourself?
EVH: As much as I can, because I am pretty much a loner. I just can't get along with people."You have a pud..your wife has a face. Next time she bitches..I'd play cock bongos on her cheeks..all four of them!" - Bill Z.
I just just had a sudden urge to sugga dick..! If I wore that guitar and didn't suck male genitalia..somethin' is very wrong! - Bill Z.

I can't say that I can personally relate but I understand what he's talkin' about. If people were putting out stuff and leading people to believe I endorsed it I would be irate.

And My question is Why does Just about Everyone Idolize him? And(Correct me if I am wrong) I heard way back then,he turned his back to the audience when playing solos. I mean He is a ok player,by far means NOT the best IMHO. I heard that he got Cancer of the Tounge because of a Metal pick and electricity and NOT from Smoking. His Arroggance is better than his playing IMO.

Well, I'm not taking anything away from the guy's talent. I love VH, especially with DLR. All of the old albums smoke, bottom line. Old VH is about the coolest stuff to listen to, you know. Almost every guitar player is influenced by him, even ones that were playing way before him. Even Beck started tapping after him."Hard work is for people short on talent." -George Carlin

I don't know, I just read the whole thing and agree with him for the most part.
Right at the beginning, he's talking about Charvel (he said Wayne just sold it, so he must be talking about Grover) selling rear-routed, one hum, Strats with the stripe job, for a grand. And that's not ripping EVH off? And Duncan using his name without permission? That's BS.
Rick Derringer opening for them and doing Eddie's solo?? I'm assuming he means the tapping part of Eruption. He even tells Rick its cool if you use the technique but don't play my melody. So the next night Derringer not only plays it but then goes into You Really Got Me! What a dick. And Scholz was doing it too.
Then the frickin' mags/interviews. Typical media BS, taking what someone says and twisting it all around to make headlines and sell.
The part about stores jacking up prices for "rock stars" was crap too. I think it was funny what he did, having his roadie get the price list then calling them out on their used car salesman tactics.
And this is in '79, pretty early in the band's career. If people were screwing around with him like this so early on, it's no wonder he's kind of a dick/defensive.
BTW - did you catch the part about buying 2 '59 LPs for the "outrageous" price of 10 grand! If he still has those, that's about a half mil now.
Unleash the fury.....Texas style!

I just think it's ridiculous that he thinks he's the first guy to ever put a humbucker in a strat.
And Holdsworth was getting that sound before him except he only needed one hand and he did alot more with it.
EVH is a great player and all but fuck he's got his head up his ass.
He makes Yngwie sound humble
