  • Anthrax Tone/Early Stuff

Does anyone know what Ian and Spitz used on the early stuff up to Among The Living? I like their tone and Testaments early tone which sound somewhat similar to me.

    Thanks-Jack

Scott Ian has said that his amp settings were exactly the same for Among and the first SOD record, which I *think* were some kind of Marshalls. Sorry I don't have anything specific. These records sound worlds apart which shows what a difference recording technique can make!

Scott Ian used a 2203 with a T.C. Electronics booster/line driver for that and S.O.D. from what I remember.

I believe he used a TC Electronics distortion pedal as well.

Dammit, JCS21 beat me to it. LOL

Don't forget it was a silver Jubilee model and yes, with a TC.

Not sure that Scott would have used a Jubilee model at that time, as I'm pretty sure the Jubilees weren't released until the State of Euphoria era... Spitz was already using Boogies as far as I remember.

Scott Ian used a Marshall JCM 800 100 watt head, T.C. Electronics Booster/Distortion (used booster mode) thru Marshall JCM 800 4x12's loaded with Rola-Celestion G12-80's on "Among the Living"
