  • Ratt and Winger last night

Sydney played host to Ratt & Winger for the first time ever last night. My mate and I were there with bells on, for Ratt mainly, Winger was just an extra.

Reb was amazing, he is a monster player that's for sure but I wasn't a Winger fan before and I"m still not one now. Their songs just don't do it for me, though Reb was great, really great. I didn't even know there was a second guitarist in the band, but he spent a bit of time showing he's no slouch either, but I don't even know his name.

Ratt were excellent. Warren's tone was hot and glassy, as expected and the whole band played great. They managed to blow power just as they were starting Lack of Communication. During the wait Bobby did a bit of a casual drum solo and then they were back into it.

Warren played one of his snakeskin guitars and he probably would have played it all night except during Body Talk something happened and he changed mid song to the skull/blood drip Charvel. He then went back to the Snakeskin.

It was very cool to see them live finally and I hope they come back and have a bigger Ratt party, as Stephen was saying.

True, true, but there are bigger venues they can go to with more promotion next time.

I saw them with Poison in Myrtle Beach a couple of months ago and thought that judging by the performances they gave, Ratt should have been headlining. I'm glad to see them back out there.

No they aren't. I enjoyed Reb's playing and his tone was great but the songs do nothing for me.

Ratt were on fire. Carobi, much as I like him, needs an image change and to stop playing ugly looking guitars while hunched over like a dwarf. He seems the odd man out of the Ratt pack.

He's hunched over out of bitterness that nobody can spell his name right!:ROTF:

His experience with Motley Crue changed Corabi; he would have been better off sticking with The Scream. Of course, nobody could have predicted that at the time. And MC94 is actually a kickass album.

As for Winger, yeah they wrote chick rock at first, but Pull was a great step in a better direction. But the times, they were a'changin', and grunge was the new thing. Between that and Beavis and Butt-head, death followed..

                      Lyric update on "Seventeen":

                      "Now she is Thirty-Five
Her daddy still would hate me
                      But he's no longer alive!"

:ROTF: Sorry! It just came to me!

True, true! I feel bad now.

He was great in the Scream, and great in MC, too bad that went so bad. He did get put through the music business ringer. Murders in the New Morgue as Blackie would say.

People say Pull was a really good Winger album but I couldn't tell much difference in the songs. I wish they hadn't played Seventeen.....

Kip Winger is a musical genious. this guy knows his shit. he was the bass player for Alice Cooper for crying out loud. You might not like Winger but you have to admit their songs are catchy and well written weather you like it or not. its so well written that it get stuck in your head even when you don't want it to.

I know the entire Winger band are great musicians, but there songs are not catchy to me. Hungry and Can't get enough are almost the same song. I can't go around singing Hungry to myself the way I can Lay It Down.

I have heard others say the same about Winger and Kip, but I don't hear it myself. I don't want to not like them, I just don't care for them.

I agree on the Winger PULL record! LOVE THAT album! And Reb's playing is so cool,,,,the way he taps is so original,,,,that's why he's one of the greats....he has something original. I just don't understand why they have two lead guitarists when they tour now. I seen them with cinderella in 2002, and cinderella and winger both BLEW away poison, musically and otherwise. But I was frustrated that Reb had another guy up there with him playing lead.......... I don't get it. Oh, and Poison I really like, but live, CC just plain old ruins every song by acting like an idiot and playing like a 3 year old.
