Love Uli Roth! I actually dig his singing in a weird way to, and I'm not ashamed to say that, haha. One of the best (guitarists, not singers )

When I was a youngster, I absolutely loved the old Scorps with Uli. Virgin Killer is one of my fav all time records.

But Uli looks naked now without his Sky guitar. haha

I think I've mostly seen him (YJM) mention just Hendrix and Blackmore as influences though.
Yeah, first time I saw Yngwie was in an Alcatrazz video on MTV in late 1983 and the first thing I thought was "Uli clone"! Still was amazed that someone COULD clone Uli so well at the time.

I don't remember Yngwie acknowledging Uli at all until he covered Sails of Charon on the Inspirations CD - which he HAD to at that point. Before that, he cited Hendrix, Blackmore and Paganini as his influences, and did NOT mention Uli.

Now he does, because everybody has connected the dots and he'd look stupid not to admit it.

I was lucky enough to see Uli's FIRST ever US appearance, on May 14, 1985 at Fender's Ballroom in Long Beach, California. Just amazing, he is the perfect blend of chops and soul and heart on the guitar.

And yes, his singing is as bad as his playing is good! But I got used to it, and I think the albums that he did sing on were his best, despite his singing hurting the overall effect.
          Ron is the MAN!!!!
