I seem to remember Blitz saying he got married and went on his honeymoon, came back to D.D. and Gustafson fighting, Blitz had a hard choice to make but supported D.D. more and Gustafson got the boot. I believe they mention it on the DVD Wrecking Everything Live.

I know that Rob Cannavino was Gustafson's guitar tech, so he just became the logical choice for a replacement, and they also decided to hold audtions for a second player and picked Merritt Gant who was a South Jersey guy.

He even looked like James Hetfield in at least one promo video I remember seeing (can't recall what track it was though!)
He also looked like something out of the Village People with that big moustache.

That pic at the start is hilarious, I bet they dread people dragging that one out.
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

      I nearly broke her back

Indeed he did! I believe it was the Elimination video. He even had a white Explorer and wrist bands.

Nah, it was Hello From the Gutter. Check it out the blast from the past:
Hello From The Gutter (Video) by Overkill(c) 1988 Megaforce Records Inc.

I love the riff post solo. Oh, and check out Stephen King on drums!

Indeed, Gustafson looking like the village people was on the Elimination vid:

On to the next set of guitar players... Sebastian Marino and Joe Comeau. I've never seen this video before, but Sebsastian is playing a Jackson Rhoads!

Alright, after some youtube searching, I found some cool stuff I haven’t seen.

Blitz talking about Marino and Comeau coming in:

                Blitz talking about his stroke:
AVAILABLE AT WWW.LIGHTYEAR.COMGET THRASHED DVD RELEASE DATE - 9/16/08Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth of Overkill talks about having a stroke onstage in Germany on Ju...

                and about his cancer:

BTW, this was the cancer growing from his nose around ’98. My friend went to see em in Altoona, PA around this time for the From The Underground And Below tour and got to the venue early and chatted w Blitz who was using the pay phone out front. At that time, the growth on his nose was not yet diagnosed to be cancer, but it was quite prominent and Blitz said he didn’t know what it was…freakin scary!
A funny aside, my friend was just being nice when he offered to buy him a beer, and Blitz’s reply was “I haven’t had a drink in over 10 years, and I sure ain’t gonna start in goddamn Altoona!”

                Comeau and Linsk on Shred

                The current lineup from ’04:
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

This is cool. The 92 horrorscope tour: I found 6 parts so far. He mentions New Haven, so I guess this is at Toad’s Place.

                  Coma, wrecking crew

                  Infectious, Blood Money

                  New machine, powersurge

I've been a huge fan of Overkill's stuff since `89..First tune I ever heard was Elimination, and after that I was hooked! My least favorite album has to be "The killing kind", but it still has a couple of good tunes..Good thing they've got a new drummer, Tim Mallare seemed to be getting slow and uninspired (and huge as a whalruss)at the end there..

Cool stuff. I knew about the nose cancer thing, never heard about the stroke.

Tim was awesome. I guess he was unispired after playing for so long. I hear he's actually quit the music business.

Man, watching the Eliminiation-vid brought back memories..It's the first thing I ever saw or heard from Overkill, and it got me hooked. I remember watching Headbangers Ball with Vanessa Warwick on some New years eve 1989 special-something, and she played Elimination, One, Peace sells.. and the Hell awaits live-version that you'll find on youtube..I was sort of only listening to Zappa prior to hearing this violent music, but I gave it a couple of spins (taped it on vhs of course!) - and this thrash-metal thing has stuck with me, along with the Zappa!

Well, the way I see it, Overkill shold've been way bigger than they are..They've been touring for ages, and they still put out great records(I don't care much about the Relixvi-stuff though!),and I've got every single album.

Don't you think what happened back in '89 just was a clash of egos? "Feel the fire" came out in '85 or so, right? I'm listening to it right now, but my Carolin-issued cd says that it was released in '87 - which I find to be a bit late, mine's probably a reissue

"The years of decay" is still my favorite, "Elimination","Nothin' to die for", "Skullcrusher", "Who tends the fire","E.N.D." and the title track - it's just a great album!! Great to see they're still going!!

I remember seeing Overkill open up for Motorhead and Slayer back in 1988. Overkill was very good and the whole concert was off the charts Still the best concert I have ever been to. It was more like a gig the place was so small and that is when 4x12 cabs ruled the day, not PA systems!!
