+1 ..he may be pentatonic all time..but he's a master at it!
Plus, he is genuine, and funny, and laughs at himself. Cool in my book

I am not a big Zakk fan either but I wonder what Randy would be doing now if he was still with us. As far as Jake he did some amazing work with Ozzy and as much as I like Badlands it was a bit disappointing.
      Just one more guitar!

I really dig Zakk's work on No More Tears. He really had his tone nailed on that one. I find that sometimes when guitarists try to get heavier and heavier it's not always for the best.

No More Tears had a bright sound yet solid bottom end. And it was more of a Rock/Metal album rather than a downtuned sludge fest which is how I think of some of his solo work as well as with Ozzy.

But still to step up to the plate and play with Ozzy that young well fuck I think I'll go back to making paper aeroplanes

The bashing I was thinking on was 357 deal, his image, his style etc. Never fails when Zakk is mentioned the gullibles who fell for a scam comes a cryin....

havin an opinion on him is not bashing at all. if you think he sucks that is your opionion but doesnt make it a true statement...only thing true is your opinion Everything is subjective and everyone has different tastes. I like Zakks playing with Ozzy but I dont own any CD's of of him. He kept the guitar solo alive when it was dying

People have their favorite guitarist amd I never uinderstood why people get upset...Randy and Yngwie are my main two guys...I really could care less if anyone else loves or hates them.

As far as Ozzy's guitarists go, Randy, Zakk and Jake in that order for me. I'm one of the few that doesnt think very highly of Jake and feel him along with Warren DiMartini are the most overated players in the last 20-30 years

My friend and I just watched a Zakk lesson on Comcast onDemand and we were dying from laughter. He threw a pinch harmonic in every riff he played!

I have to agree with this one.

Shawn, search youtube for those live Ratt vids from 1984. Warren rips it up and his tone is great too.

As for Zakk, I like him. He rips, he's got the "rock star" attitude onstage, and he's ALWAYS praising the guitarists he admires. That shows that he is pretty much devoid of an ego IMO.

So I guess Nick Cantoneese's guitar students, who he told about the deal, are considered "gullibles" huh? The more douchebags keep busting on good people who got taken on this BS, the more were going to keep mentioning it.

The simple fact that you EXPECTED ZW bashing simply reinforces why we always bring it up... You now remember, any time something on ZW is posted, any time you hear his name, that bashing will probably insue. And you remember why... Because of the scam. And THAT is our goal, so fuckin a'! Like him or not, call us gullible or not, you remember and thats whats important!

Is that bashing? I don't intend it as so. But I'm not a Zakk fan at all. His playing bores me. His singing is a lifeless clone of Ozzy. He has the skills but would rather play it safe than really push himself. Course him being drunk 24/7 may have something to do with that...
I've heard somewhere that Zakk was given an old tomato (ultimatum) to either get sober, or get another gig. Maybe they'll let him back in at NAMM again.

Read "Off the Rails" by Rudy Sarzo... According to that book, Randy had made a deal with Ozzy to do the "Speak of the Devil" album and one more album and then he was out of the band. (Randy wasn't keen on playing Sabbath tunes at the end of the set, let alone an entire album of them) Randy's plans were to go back to school and work on becoming a studio musician. From there I think it was anyone's guess.

I think Zakk has a great voice, especially on the Pride and Glory album.

BLS is boring shit these days though. Has been for the past couple of albums for me.

Old Country-Zakk was way better, before he caught that ridiculous faux-Biker disease.

yeah...sorry i dont know Nick or everyone who fell for the scam....

people who got burned by it have the right to complain about it, I'd be pissed too I suppose. on the same token "douchebags" have equal right bust the balls of those gullible folk who fell for said scam

I only have one complaint with Zakk, too many pinch harmonics. His over use of pinch harmonics ruined Bark at the Moon.
