Any Crashdiet Fans ?

Believe or not, glam metal still lives. It lives in Europe and has a pretty good following. There they call it Sleaze Metal. The biggest Sleaze Metal band is probably Crashdiet and they really are quite good. Their 1st full length release was called Rest in Sleeze as it was dedicated to their lead singer who died. Now they have a new lead singer and new CD called Unattractive Revolution.

Totally dig it. Can't wait to see if the rest of the album holds up. I just got the new Crazy Lixx cd and half of it is really good and the rest is just so so.

Nice to see some of this stuff back on the grid, even if it isn't here in the U.S.

It does, very solid CD, just as the 1st one was.

Here's another fun fact. Remember Shotgun Messiah and their original singer Zinny Zan? Zinny is over in Europe and part of the Sleaze Metal scene over there with his band called Zan Clan.

I heard about Crashdiet a while back and I really should have checked them out then. When I finally did I was impressed. Even with the original guy gone the second album is just as good IMO.

I don't think Crashdiet is the biggest but there's a lot of that kind of bands coming from Sweden and they have a pretty big following.

They are all called Sleaze Rock (not metal)... it's kind of fusion of 70's glam and hard rock, punk and hairmetal... some bands sound more glam, some more punk (like Backyard Babies who are awesome btw)

Yeah, there's a big scene for that kind of music here... Acts like The Poodles, Fatal Smile and so on are really into that Aquanet Pink stuff...

I've been kind of researching this scene on the internet. Apparently Sweden is the new LA for this kind of music. However, check this one out:

When you watch this you'll swear it's from 1984 and was a 1984 Motley Crue clone. The video is worth a watch just for the girls. In fact, when I watched it I thought for sure it was from the mid 80's. It's not though, it's fairly new and these guys are actually from California. Here's a little more info on them:

I still think Big Cock is the best of the new US stuff (guitarist from King Kobra and Rob Mason singing). Their 3rd cd is due out next month...

Holy crap! Just looked at Dirty Penny's website and they're actually playing an hour away from my house Saturday night. I'm gonna make the trip. I'll give you a full report.

If you ever get the chance to see Dirty Penny live, GO SEE THEM !!!!!

Damn were these guys good. I went kind of expecting to see a group of guys trying to imitate what 80's rock/metal was all about but HELL NO ! these guys were like watching a real Motley Crue back in their younger days. Dirty Penny played a very impressively tight set. They sounded better live than on their CD. These guys are in their mid-20's and all very talented. They played their asses off.

Half the fun was just hanging out watching the crowd. I had no idea if there were going to be 10 people there or 200. This was a small/medium size club an hour away from any decent sized town. It was out in the country, by one of the local lakes. During the summer I could understand this place packing them in because of all the lake traffic but in mid-Jan ? To my surprised the place was really packed. The culture shock of the whole thing was at times absolutely freaking hilarious.

The Dirty Penny guys came in all dressed up and ready to go during one of the opening acts and just hung out with the crowd for an hour. It was really funny. You got these 4 guys looking like they just escaped from a 1984 Motley Crue video hanging out in a country bar with all the locals. These country girls out here are not shy at all. Tits were popping out all over the place . The guys from Dirty Penny were trying to sit up on the tables(no chairs) and hang out but ran into a little problem. Their leather pants were cut really low so when they sat up on the tables it became a crack show. The local girls kept trying to throw ice down their cracks. It was hilarious.

But anyway, if you ever get the chance to go see these guys live, do it. They really are quite good. Here's a few crappy pics from my phone.
