wow, I didn't know that, that's fucking cool, Steve is one of the most recorded and one of the most influental drummers ever.

as far as megadeth, i could care less. dave mustaine is a douche and in my opinion, his band has always been crappy. maybe not the players, but i HATE his "songs". but, i outgrew thrash in 1990.

IMHO, he should have stayed injured. and megadeth could have died with some good history under its belt, instead of beating a deadhorse and having it be what it is now.

yep, Nicko has allways hated double bass, he has only used it once and it was in 2002.
He is using one kick drum pedal and gets the speed from heel-toe technique wich is popular among jazz players and this is what John Bonham also used.
Nicko's style has style has a lot of swinging and rudimentary beats wich is very uncommon in metal.
So unlike many people claim, heavy metal is not about double bass blast beats and shit like that because the drummers from most influental metal bands (Bill Ward from Sabbath and Nicko from Maiden) don't do it
BTW. Nicko is way more respected drummer in the professional drumming world than some wanking speed freaks

Levantin, don't get me wrong. I know where you're coming from too. When I go to a concert, for most bands anyway, I just want to hear the old stuff 'cause usually it's the good stuff.
As long as there's one or two tunes on each new album that kicks butt, it's a worthwhile investment for me.

What's up with the Jim/James thing for all of Dave's bass players now?!? :ROTF:
He likes telling someone named James what to do....

We can listen to new bands who copy and evolve that sound (and who those bands are could be a whole other thread but Iced Earth jumps to my mind), or we can listen to new material from the original gods and masters. Whether or not the new material is as inspired or original or even as good as the older material is another topic for debate, but it's what we got. Therefore I am vested in it and very interested, original members or no.
Good for you! (as you may have gathered) I just don't feel the same way.

no problem man, just saying because Nicko's style is 180 degrees the opposite how the other heavy metal drummers play

Fair enough E, not to get off topic, I was trying to make an analogy on another classic band I love.
