I heard they recently changed to a cheaper manufacturer for their import stuff (where they make the most money). Which would explain the crap flowing into Guitar Center of late.
Never heard of Chris Broderick. Seven-stringer, Nevermore... it don't add up to me being excited to hear it.
"But what they have to realize is that I sang almost every single note of Marty Friedman's guitar solos, and I wrote the majority of Nick's drum parts, and I wrote almost every bass note that Ellefson played.".
The man should then just admit upfront that it's him and three hired hands. Hell, do a Roger Waters, credit the albums to "Dave Mustaine, performed by Megadeth".
The guy just doesn't seem to realise from his fanbase's point of view it's about personalities as well, otherwise he could just sequence the entire album and be done without the human input.
BTW - sang Marty's solos!? He must have some pretty impressive vocal chops, and I ain't never seem them live!
I'm a Megadeth fan as much as the next guy, but gee, is he becoming ever less likeable.
hahahahahaha, who cares if dave can't let go. that is HIS problem. if he HAS copied metallica, who cares? to me megadeth was always different. much more technical and less "catchy" songs. metal dudes that liked technical stuff gravitated to megadeth while the mainstream gravitated toward metallica. to me they are apples and oranges.
and, again, who really cares?
yeah guess you're right it dont really matter. megadeth to me will always be better than metallica except for the metallica dave helped write
THAT is exactly how I started tapping on bass. But I don't tap the way guys like Billy does. I look at bass much like a keyboard in treble/bass clef. Tony Levin fucked me all up when I saw him in '81' w/ KK with a Chapan stick. I was completely floored. I was young and had no clue or could afford to get one of those. Naturally I just adapted his techniqe to the 4 string bass...and I wrote 30 years worth of riifs that way. Stu Hamm and Jeff Berlin also does it in that same style..
I actually played some bass chops for Glen and Shawn Drover on Adrian's 6 string bass. Glen actually held the neck by the nut to dampen the strings so I could do some of my tapping/slapping shit. I kept busting Adrian's balls and kept telling him his bass was too big.
I can play 6 string bass pretty good, as long as I remove a string or two..
yep, my friend also plays it like a piano (mostly with 4 or 5 string basses) and often incorporates all the tapping licks into funk/slapping grooves wich gives a cool vibe
but the Chapman Stick is a funny thing, there you got string wich are for low end bass line grooving and then there's strings for guitar sounding stuff. It's like bass and guitar built into one.
Thats great he is awesome, i wish he played full time for nevermore (I'm saying that has a huge fan). I don't think we'll be used to his full ablity in megadeth but whatever it'll still be sweet it see him on gigantour. good news!
the only thing wich has more than 6 strings that I'm interested of playing with is Chapman Stick

What if you get busted? A bolt of lightning in the head wouldn't be good.
Yeah..how do ya think Lucifer got put in the dog house!!!
I'm just saying, Tony lopping off his fingers was the best thing that ever happened..it gave birth to metal and the "evil" riff...who knew?!
There is soooooooooo many awesome 7 string players..you'd prolly wouldn't even know they were playing a 7. A freind of mine has a site called "stricky 7" or something like that..he's a good noodler. He's good freinds with Curran Murphy of "Shattered Messiah"..who was a long term "live" secondary player for Nevermore and Annihilator. He's playing in my old singer bud's band. He's also helpin' out in that same camp with "Dark Arena" and "I King"..the same dude that I did that Attaxe thing with. Maybe I can find that site..he had it up and running for some time now.
Like mentioned above, 7's are NOT an exclusive "Nu" thing..Uli Roth and Steve Vai set that tone (pun) years ago...and Uli Roth isn't joing Korn anytime soon !
