I love Cash's version of that song. Far superior to the original. Gives me goosebumps.

Yeah, that one really gets me, each time I watch it. MUCH better than Reznor's version, IMHO.

American IV: The Man Comes Around. Yes, it was produced by Rick Rubin. Trent Reznor (sp?) from NIN wrote it originally. Johns version blows that away IMO.

Johns albums with Rick were all about songs John wanted to do. Mostly covers. Almost every album had one original though. Such as this album, the original was The Man Comes Around. See, Rick gave John the freedom to do what he wanted to. That's why they are so good IMO, a man doing the music HE wants too, with complete freedom/cooperation from the label/producer etc. Other good covers on those albums, One (U2), Solitary Man (Neil Diamond), Sea of Heartbreak (Don Gibson), Personal Jesus (can't remember who did that)..a bunch of good ones.

I can still barely listen to this song, because it is so powerful, it's just beyond words.

                        One of my favorite song.

His version of "Bridge over Troubled Water", make me teary eyed, everytime I hear it.

There is something so raw in his voice, that adds a whole layer of emotion, that I have never heard in any other version.

yep, another good one. As well as, "If you could read my mind"..awesome stuff. His voice is shaky at the beginning, but that's just how fragile he was at that time. This was after June died I believe, and you can hear it in his voice.

You also need to hear "September When it Comes" by him and Rosanne Cash (his daughter) little did they know, he would pass in September, the song is so fitting. Please listen.
