The really important question that needs to be asked here is - which came first the Jackson of the wah pedal?

He was born with a wah wah pedal growing from his right foot - they didn't want to operate as it would have left one leg four inches shorter than the other.

I assume. How else to explain his over reliance on it?

He did an Iommi, but instead cut off his foot... In the days before advanced prosthetics, their solution was to attach a wah to his stump. After all it would give him at least a small range of motion

I once had the same problem as Rsmacker mentioned earlier. Somebody broke into my house and stole everything I owned, then replaced it all with exact replicas! Took me forever to figure it out!

By the way, dry nuts are not happy nuts.

I did read an interview somewhere in which Kirk stated that he used his Rhoads for the actual recording of "One," and some other stuff on Justice! Figures that once he stopped using Jacksons after Justice their music went to shit!
            I love admins!

Actually he used the Jackson on the black album a lot. I remember having guitar player mag or some other guitar mag where they actually broke down each song and what guitar he actually played on it and it was a lot of the Jackson and a lot of his black Les Paul. But that was back when he played Kramers and Ibanez as well. he used to be really into all sorts of different guitars.

And I'm going to throw this in there because I know someone is probably going to argue that he never played the Kramer or Ibanez. Go to netflix, put bing and purge on your list and watch the Seattle concert.

In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

I've seen him play the Ibanez RG live... it's the guitar he usually smashes. I'm sure he's got several, or maybe he just has them rebuilt.

I've also seen him in a photo playing an Ibanez Iceman.

I listened again to the Justice album yesterday and I'm wondering if Kirk used a strat or some other single coil guitar for most of the solos. They seem to lack the "in your face" sound of the previous album solos, but have a tinny clarity.
Maybe it's just the shitty production, but it made me wonder.

"The Call of Ktulu" is a masterpiece BTW, even if they did spell it wrong. Those guys managed to write some of the most memorable music ever before they met Bob Rock and started writing piss poor rock n roll with muddy sounding guitars.

The video for One has Kirk playing a green ESP strat with single coils and a Floyd.

Yeah I knew he played a strat in that vid, that's what got me thinking. The lead tone he has on that album just seems a bit thin considering he was, I believe, using EMGs by that stage.
But man, his solos on that album, and the three previous, were awesome.

Och that's just bollocks. In recent years I've come to appreciate Mustaine's playing more and hate Hammett more for his loss of talent, but come on. Give Kirk his due. Mustaine could never even PLAY the solos on Ktulu, Orion, Eye of the Beholder etc never mind write them.
Kirk was a fucking genuis lead guitarist for a long time and he did it all pretty much himself. Mustaine always had someone better than him to help him out be it Poland, Friedman, Pitrelli, Drover etc.

Kirk sucks now, I've seen live recordings of him when the St Anger "album" came out, attempting to play old solos and he was awful. He appears to have lost his chops completely. He also started wearing make up and all that crap long after Poison was even cool. Yeah, Kirk and the rest of the band suck, and so does their music.

But his leadwork up to and including the Black album was pretty much flawless. Like Mustaine could have given us the "Fade To Black" intro solo? Right.

FUCK KIRK HAMMETT, but, at the same time, KIRK WAS A GOD BOW DOWN BEFORE HIM!

Fair play to him, if I was in his position, I'd be "Lost in Cocaine and Hookers and Fast Cars". He's done it, played on some of the most enjoyable tracks of the Soundtrack of MY life, I don't care if he samples his farts and then Wah-wahs them all day long, he's earned his place in the music hall of fame.
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

                            I nearly broke her back

                              Now that would be interesting!

and probably be more entertaining than St Anger
