Type O Negative kicks ass. I have seen them live a few times too, and it has always been a top notch show. I have been listening to World Coming Down a lot lately. An unjustly maligned album, if you ask me.

Love 'em! Anyone heard their cover of Black Sabbath, by Black Sabbath? It's on the Nativity in Black tribute album....very dark song, which is saying something, considering how dark the original was!
Anyone know any bands similar to Type O (my friends and I were calling them "Pipe O" after that Playgirl rumor!)?

great cover! who'd have thought that they could slow down the world's slowest song! they also recorded a version of it with different lyrics; i believe it was called black sabbath from lucifer's perspective, or something like that. i almost like it better.
i've seen them before, and they put on a really good show. i have the new disc, but really haven't given it the listen it should have.
I got into Typo back in 97' after I heard Wolf Moon on a Kerrap' cover disc. I have most of there stuff only missing a couple at most, October Rust has to be my favorite though.
The de-tunning goes well with Pete Steeles low vocals. Their cover versions are pretty good although not keen on the Britney one.
Can't comment on their gigs as I've not seen them but their Origin of the Feces album sounds good.
It was wierd at first hearing the music they were creating when Type O was formed after Carnivore but Type O is badass, actually i haven't listened to them in awhile or their new stuff, October Rust was the last, but i fucking love them.
They were/are mabye one of the most talented bands out there.
Their albums are sonically thick and layred with superb songwriting, heavy as hell, black and romantic, and some great humor, you have to "get it" to get it.
Pete Steele has one of the sickest voices ever.
Damn it guys!!!!
I did something I shouldn't have done. You guys said something about the singer and Playgirl so I said WTF? typed it in and there it was the first hit.
I just don't know if I can listen to them anymore... I just don't know.
What would make him do that? there he was holding his junk, WTF?
It looked gay, not me! him!! why?.... why?.....
BTW Endrik, he should be called Tripod-O-Negative.

Lol, let's see.
Money
Exposure for his band
maybe ...Pu$$y
He pretty much wasn't bothered by it in an interview when they asked him why he did it, he said any exposure is good for the band.
Dudes not shy, he walks the walk, read an interview by him you get the idea, also he's very intelligent.
In recent interviews it seems like he's had a change of heart about that photo shoot. It seems like he's afraid his "legacy" will be his schlong. As mighty as it is. I think he'd rather be known for the music...
I saw them at the Zone DK in Manhatten back in '90 when they were called Repulsion. They sucked hard live but I could tell they had potential with their song writing. They were being booed off the stage and Peter Steele challenged some dudes to get up on stage and fight him...a pretty funny scene (they didn't do it). They completely lost the crowd though until they pulled out a song "I Know You're Fucking Someone Else" at which point they seemed to win them back. They still had to be escorted out by security though as there were plenty of people who weren't up front that wanted a piece of Steele's challenge.
The crowd was there to see Biohazard and COC though so those guys were up against it from the start.
Wow! I remember that place. Was a biker/s&m/bondage/weirdo spot across the street from the Marquee. Saw a few shows there. It was the kind of place that when the metal band/show was over at like 1am or 2 am, it would all of a sudden become a S&M bar. Weird/funny sh!t. In fact, I remember that show. This band from Jersey opened up, called "Jersey Dogs." Bad/shitty speed metal. It was one of the CMJ Music convention showcases I think. Fun times!
Oh and Type O have redeemed themselves with their latest. I forget it's name but it has Rasputin on the cover. A very good return.
