  • Motorhead Charvel?

    Hi,
Can anybody see if this is a Charvie explorer in this link?
It looks really cool, but I can't see the headstock.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

No it's not a Charvel. I have that DVD and I know that is from a builder in england, but I forgot the name of the guy.

I wonder how many times did Lemmy sing that song through his life.... 10.000?

Lags are cool. I almost got one a few years back in a trade for my old Carvin 12-string, but the deal fell through.

Something strange about a bolt-on Explorer. But that one is sweet and sounds great...

Are Lags expensive guitars? do the make other models?

They're a French company, but they've apparently got a UK and AU site as well. The one I almost got a few years ago was a single-cut, similar in looks to a Hamer. I guess it might have been a Roxane. I don't know if they ever made an Explorer besides the one for Phil.

I always wonder how Lemmy picks his guitar players. It's clearly not on technical ability, and IMO not on ability to write solos. Or even to play the old solos as that vid shows.
At least Wurzel was crazy enough to be amusing. Phil Campbell just doesn't do it for me, despite the fact I love Motorhead.

At least Phil Campbell plays with some attitude, I'd say that's why he's in Motorhead.

Phils greatness is in his tone, I think...

Wow...I think that video triggered an epilepsy attack! :P I REALLY think there needs to more changes of camera angle! :ROTF:

That is a nice guitar, which reminds me - anyone here own the Star that Wurzel "supposedly" owned that popped up on ebay every once in a while with the lightning bolt graphic last year?
Crime doesn't pay. Neither does lutherie...

Thing I love about Motorhead is that you can be old and ugly, with warts and shit growing out your head and still rock like a SOB. Makes you feel good to know.

A guy named Jay from CA owns it afaik, unless it has sold. I don't think he's a member here (at least not active), but he's been on other boards. The controversy about the Wurzel star has to do with the supposedly original plate that he happened to find after getting the guitar from the UK. I don't know enough about it to have a real opinion, but I can definitely understand people being skeptical.

edit- Forgot to add, no Motorhead thread is complete without the definitive Ace of Spades clip:
