No, can't be, his head isn't big enough.
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

        I nearly broke her back

some guy who cant remember his own lyrics by the look of it...i wonder whether there's any point in him even releasing chinese democracy anymore. most of the tracs have already been pirated and out of the ones i've heard, they're pretty average IMO...

He needs to just bite the bullet and make ammends with Slash and go out for at least a reunion tour. Gotta have Izzy in on it though, especially if they decide to write any more songs.

He used a teleprompter back when Slash was in the band. I'm not saying that in a nice way either! Yes, Ozzy uses one, but he has 1) way more drug-years under his belt and 2) way way way more songs and lyrics to remember. Axl, no so much.

I honestly haven't paid any attention to the dude in the last fifteen years, but those few albums they DID put out(and I'm not counting The Spaghetti Incident) were the soundtrack to my youth and a big part of what made me decide to pursue a career in rock n roll. Is it wrong for a nine year old to live his life by an album about sex and drugs and rock n roll?

                Hell no!

I still don't understand the draw of this band. Now or then...

Average blues/rock band. More of an Aerosmith rip-off than anything, I think...

But people don't understand why I like KISS so who the hell knows...

I really liked GNR back in the day, but I don't think this version of it holds any relevence what so ever. They may be able to make some decent stuff, but there's no way it'll survive the comparison to classic G&R. Despite Axl's best efforts the band was not all about him.

This makes me sad because I never had the chance to see them live as I wanted to, and I think do to ego or whatever Axl's mental issues are, the boat has passed him by. I think Axl needs to drop the G&R name and just call it Axl. Move away marketing wise from anything G&R related and then put out al album. Then if he want's to call it G&R that's "ok" i guess, but he needs to re-establish himself, not play up a band that ceased to exist 15-20 years ago.

Now I want to break out UYI1 and put on Coma, that's still my favorite G&R song.
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

Can you put guitar tabs on a teleprompter? Slash might need that now.

                        Two things,

First, look at the music that was dominating airwaves at the time, Poison, Warrent, whatever other hair metal bands were out there, Trixter, Vixen, what have you. All that stuff had high prodcution value, you can tell most of it wasn't first take. Then you have G&R that comes around and I don't mean offence by this but there was some seriously sloppy guitar work on there. It had more of a "We're gonna be in your face and not really give a fuck if you like it" sort of feel to it. And it wasn't all clean, there was some blue language and blue content on that first cd.

Second, I think it's kind of the danger element that went a long with G&R. People got taken in by just not knowing what was going to happen next. No offence meant towards the guys in poison but I have no doubt I could take any one of them or maybe even two of them in a real fist fight if I was put into that position. Axl Rose, I don't know... Not that I think he could over power me, but he's like a little suicidal maniac, you just wouldn't walk away from a fight with him with all your parts working anymore... At least that was sort of how I felt back in the day with that band.

I find it hard to listen to a whole lot of their stuff now. It's sort of like Led Zeppelin (to me) in that when it comes on the radio i'm like "Ok.. heard that enough when I was in highschool, lets move along." though certain songs always get cranked up.

                            eakinj,
I hear what you're saying. I don't really agree a whole lot but I hear you...

First it took well over a year for that first CD to catch on. I had heard that fuckin' thing waaaaay too much before I ever saw Welcome To The Jungle on Mtv...

As for production values. Yeah, it's a bit more raw than most hair metal bands. But I've always thought of GnR as a hair metal band. I still think they are, to an extent. So to me, they looked exactly like LA Guns and Faster Pussycat and those sleeze type bands. All influenced by The New York Dolls. So when they came out, it was nothing new. At least to me it wasn't... (Hanoi Rocks anyone?)

As for Axl being tough? I would have killed to be able to fight him back in the day. I always thought he was a puss that hid behind security. I could be wrong but that's what I took away from him. Scrawny as all fuck...

You wanted danger back in 1989? Go to a Slayer show. To us, that was dangerous. Not GnR. They were the next "thing" in a long line of "things" the hair metal movement put out...

But like I said, what the hell do I know? I think Ace Frehley is one of the best guitarist walking the planet...

                              Your mileage may vary...
