Yeah, I'm not really into his fusion stuff. To be it always sounds on a brink of derailment. I mean I rather listen to real fusion guys or crossovers dudes like Howe, MacAlpine, Holdworth, Gambale, Shawn Lane, Dimeola, Stevens, Kotzen, even Zappa and Poland and ect (you know)..who do well in flexing their muscles in more solid "song" oriented material. I look at it as a whole, ryjthm section and all. The BEST I've ever seen Alex was when he toured with Stu Hamm in the early 90's..he did Stu's solo material originally recorded by Satch, Harry Cody amoung others..he was truly amazing that tour...you would have loved that one E!! I was blown away that night!!
Bill... are there any recordings with him and Stu? I'd love to check that stuff out.
But I think his solo thing right now isn't really a fusion... it's more nu-jazz and stuff like that. And Alex is a pretty mean slide player too.
I really like their version of Rush's Tom Sawyer.... his drummer is fucking sick and specially on that tune.

The new album is their best in a long time IMO. The Gathering is fucking hyped! It sounds awesome...yes....the drumming is awesome...yes....riffs are awesome....yes...Chuck sounds awesome...yes. BUT!! people need to stop treating it like the be-all-end-all Testament record, like The New Order, Souls of Black, and The Legacy had never been released...I'm tired of all you Gathering-loving fuckers
I think the non-Skolnick albums are great don't get me wrong, but I like them for different reasons than what made the old albums so special for me.
Kinda like being into both Kill 'Em All and the Black Album, if you like (that's NOT comparing the bands, but rather just their evolutionary paths)
to me, the gathering IS the be-all-end-all testament record
just wanted to point that out ^^
Yeah count me in too. I know metal..and I fuck metal with my metal cock!

Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

Theres some great tracks on this, but alot of bland passages aswell. It's good cause chuck is awesome.
The Gathering was a better testament though. I know thats wrong to say and impure blah blah blah....then I put it on and not care anymore
exactly.,.it is good because of Chuck!!!! That dude's power is gotta be fuggin' unmatchable..

I just bought the 'limited' edition with the making of DVD and wth, they're playing Dean guitars and still sound amazing. Jackson PLEASE endorse Testament, they're about to be the next best thing!!!
Anyone know how to play the lick on THe Evil has Landed @ about 3:25-3:27 I get so caught up in the phrasing that I cannot get a handle on the notes. Looks like I may have to slow it down and stop freaking out over how cool it sounded )

Eric has been endorsed by ESP and Dean for awhile. Alex primarily plays Gibsons and Heritage guitars now.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
bumping so anyone who hasn't picked up this album yet, will.
bought it, listened to it on a 2 hour drive back from Richmond. Several times. Got so into it, i took the wrong exit home. Scary, really. Zoning out while driving. The same exit I've taken at least 1000 times, and was so into the album i missed it.
Several songs off the album sound like they would fit right in with The Gathering, while others have an old Practice/Souls/Ritual feel. Favorite song off the album has to be F.E.A.R. Oddly enough, that song, lyrics and all was written by Alex. That song kicks my ass daily, even just hearing it in my head.
