Is his Rhoads silver or a different shade of gunmetal gray? I know the GMG has gone through different shades of the gray, and I always used to think his guitar was gray when seeing this video in the late '80s, but it looks silver now. Also, anyone know what the graphic is on it?

That's a great song!
Looks silver Joe. The graphic looks like a dragon or gargoyle of some type. Looks like a sticker too.

That song and whole No Exit album rule! I wasn't sure if it was a sticker or not on there, but it does look like a gargoyle or dragon. And I guess it is silver. The pic inside my cassette and CD make it look more gray, too. Must be the lighting.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

I don't have the No Exit album. I have Perfect Symmetry, Parallels, Inside Out, and Chasing Time. I don't know why I never got No Exit. I think it's the first FW album where they sound like themselves. Before that (Night on Brocken, The Spectre Within, and Awaken the Guardian) I think they sounded too much like Iron Maiden. They were decent enough albums, but IMO No Exit was where they found their own sound. I think it's pretty obvious that Ray Alder is what really made the band complete. John Arch had that squeaky voice that kinda irritated me.

I liked John, and there was a definite Maiden influence. Right before Ray came in, they started to get away from the Maiden sound. I also think Ray just fits better with the band. No Exit is the first album with Ray, and it's my favorite. I don't know if Ray can even hit those high notes any more, though.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

All of their albums are cool, but No Exit was their best, IMO. Perfect Symmetry, Parallels and Inside Out were really good, but after that it seems they (mainly Jim Matheos) doesn't like the heavier stuff any more, and I don't think Ray can reach those high notes any more, or maybe he just doesn't want to. Joe DiBiase and Frank Aresti left around '97 and they got Joey Vera from Armored Saint to play bass and Kevin Moore who was in Dream Theater played keyboards for a little bit. Mark Zonder also quit the band and they've had a couple of other drummers since. I still love Ray's voice and am looking forward to some new stuff eventually.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Just in case you didn't know, Ray Alder did some really cool stuff with the band Engine. Its drop tuned kinda heavy stuff, and he does a little bit more screaming than I expected. I really like their first cd. Latest I've heard is Alder is doing stuff with a band called Redemption, but I haven't heard any songs yet.
When Fates started using BC Rich's on the Symmetry cd, I was really disappointed. The sound on No Exit was so much better, I think. Man, it'd be one hell of a score to find Aresti's old RR, wouldn't it ?!
As far as my favorite Fates cd ? I'd say its a tie between Awaken the Guardian and No Exit.I'm not afraid to bleed, but I won't do it for you.

Here's some Redemption tunes from their site. http://www.redemptionweb.com/index1.html
I saw some live footage of them on Youtube, and Ray's got really short hair now.
I know Frank did play B.C. Rich as well. I thought he started playing them before Jackson, though.
I actually just picked up the reissue No Exit CD, and it's got a bonus DVD of tour footage with Frank playing the RR quite a bit! I would love to find that guitar. Also included on the DVD are the Silent Cries and Anarchy Divine videos.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Even though I still have my original No Exit cd, it sounds like it'd be worth buying the reissue for the dvd. If I pick it up, I'll see if I can snap some still shots of the RR, blow 'em up, and maybe we can finally see what the hell is on it ! That , of course, may lead to a Frank Aresti sig paintjob on my RR.I'm not afraid to bleed, but I won't do it for you.

Oh yeah, almost forgot .......
You can see Frank and Jim playing their BC Rich's on the Through Different Eyes video. From what I remeber, they weren't anything fancy, just plain, single color strat bodies. BC Rich musta kicked in some decent bucks with those guitars to get Fates to sign up.I'm not afraid to bleed, but I won't do it for you.
