Slayer leads aren't supposed to be anything but nasty and chaotic, cold and mean... I mean, what else can suit such aggressive music? Blues shred?

Chris Impellitteri, his tone and his picking technique clash and sound absolutely terrible.

Slayer, rythym = excellent, lead = shite.

Eddies live tone on this tour
(at least the stuff I've seen on the web)

I'll let you know how it sounds live, should the May concert actually happen.

On "Always With You, Always With Me", he had a beautiful, expressive tone. "Crushing Day" had a killer scooped crunchy rhythm tone that I often try to imitate.
I wouldn't say unfair... a lot of times he has a very annoying tone but the other hand I really like the tones he has on Engines Of Creation

I agree with sonicsamurai (woah, is that possible ) too much wall of hi-gain buzz these days and very little actual tone

I think the exact opposite, it's the 80s tone that's too trebly
And Dead Heart tone is more clear than the TGE tone to me, brutal and tight

I guess you could argue that he was going for certain tones, but everything on that album just sounds way too buzzy for my taste. But then again, so does the JSX!

    Fantastic player though.

Definite +1 for Always With You. Beautiful tone and phrasing combined in that song.
