My guitar teacher got me started on his stuff, and recommended I buy Guthrie's two books. Not only is the guy a fantastic player, but whenever I need to check up on some nuance of playing or technique, his books nail it.Comment

The power and speed in ALL of his fingers of fretting hand is sick! He can do trills with his ring and pinky fingers faster than most people with index and middle fingers.

Here's a funny NAMM story.. we went by the Cornford booth about 4 times each day...Thurs, Fri, Sat) And 3/4's of the time Guthrie was
noodling around by himself. So in my infinate wisdom..i ask.."When is
Greg Howe coming by"? (my hero you see..) And Guthrie smiles...
and the Cornford guy says.."gee any time now, im sure he will be here."
So i do this loop around, and check in about every 3 hours..."Has Greg
been by yet"? Later after getting back home..(greg isnt even at NAMM!
My friend Justin says.."You know...you probably could have been sitting
down with Guthrie...and getting a ton of tips, and info..heck he looked bored" .... Then i realise, that wasting all that time waiting to see Howe.. i could have gotten the equivalent of about 90 minutes worth of
private instruction from Guthrie!! Dammit ! He was probably thinking...
"Wish that Howe guy would show up, so i could cut heads" !!
Yep..ive watched every Youtube vid of him at least 4 or 5 times!
Im all about missed opportunites!
This is the one thing, i would love to master... the huge descending tapping lick..
Damn..ive got about 10% of it!
