So I am listening to the album and taking it all in...its definitely not like any of their previous albums.

These songs are very 70s influences...there is a song called "Love" which sounds like Leps version of a Bohemian Rhapsody.

The opening track Go is a totally unexpected and easily the heaviest song they have recorded...reminds me of the opening track to Slang...kicks major ass with a trade-off guitar solo.

I am not through the album but there are several mid-tempo rockers that lean on the pop side.

Vivian Campbell has a great song about Steve Clark...really well done.

Phil Collen wrote a song Tomorrow which is really melodic and the guitar solo starts solo and ends with a shredding run.

    Just taking it all in!

    Long live Def Leppard

Turn that song up really loud and it's just a fucking blast.
Leppard certainly rocked on Hysteria. They still had classic riffs and knew how to fire out great solos.
Adrenalize was a slight step down but it still had the classic riffs, big choruses and Phil Collen played the solos to perfection.

This new album is just nowhere close to that stuff. It's a pile of crap to be honest. Joe sounds like he can now only sing in a low register, so every song's vocal track sounds the same; there are no real guitar pyrotechnics from what I can tell; there are no real riffs.

Pure shite. "Yeah, our new album is like AC/DC crossed with High N Dry". I believe that's what the band said about a year ago.

Oh fuck off, you lying bastards.

It's ok... pieces of it had some potential. But as always, it falls flat just when you think it should kick in.
Not even close to being "heavy".

My 5 year old daughter rocks harder on her Barbie guitar.

(Barbie guitar not pictured and no, that's a Diet Coke can not a beer.)

DL poser alert!!!! They were on Dancing with the stars and lip synched to the 19 year old original track!!!!. A lose/lose situation...they pulled a Britney on a gay show like that no less.

As sad Ozzy is these days..he actually performed on the music awards.

I´ve listened to the preview... and sadly wasn´t impressed. I absolutely love Def Leppard, to the point of owning two Jackson Collens, but the last three efforts haven´t been anything special... I liked Euphoria, but after that it´s been pretty boring. It´s like they´ve simply run out of gas.

Add to that, the television audience. They were on Dancing With The Stars last night. ACK!

I guess you're talking about the Grammy they stole from Metallica?
But being honest, if those two were to go head to head NOW, I think Tull would rock harder, even if they are over 60!

I got the new cd yesterday and have listened to it several times. I like it a lot. I think it's quite good. Give it a chance.

First of all, they obviously played live on Dancing with the Stars but the producers broadcasted the studio track.

And seriously with the music industry the way it is do you blame them for wanting a free commercial??? Its just business...amazing how this old school mentality permeates this forum!

A band like Def Leppard is a company...just like Bon Jovi and especially like KISS.
If you want an underground band that has such high principles I'm sure you can find them in any local town playing to 5 people.

                        I'm done :P

That's just absolute fucking bullshit. I've been reading this same shite on the official forum for weeks now, and all it does is get people's hopes up.
"Go" isn't a bad song, but for fuck sake "heavy"? I don't know how you fanboy's are defining heavy but this song ain't it. Joe can't even hit a high note any more, whereas he used to scream like a fucking banshee. You ever heard anything off "High N Dry"? Every song on that album, even "Bringin On The Heartbreak" is heavier (and better) than "Go".
"Trade off guitar solo"? Where exactly? I hear a slight, pretty short trade off guitar melody, which is clearly based on what Viv and Phil do live, but it's short and very watered down and, to be frank - shit. Nowhere near as good as the ass kicking stuff they did live on the "Visualize" DVD which it appears to be based on.

I'm sick of band's fanboys (Not just Leppard, all bands have them) telling us their band's new album is "the best since Hysteria/Master Of Puppets/ whatever" only for it to turn out to be a big pile of commercial shite.
This album (and I now have the full version) is NOT heavy, is NOT like AC/DC or High N Dry and is lacking in balls as usual. It may be a good album, I'll have to give it a few more listens, but it certainly doesn't meet the criteria they set down months ago to get us all interested again. So fuck 'em. They better kick major ass live in June or I'll have to give up on them.

                          I'm done.

Have you actually HEARD this, or just read it all in "Classic Rock" magazine?
"Love" is like "Bo-Rhap"? It's 4 minutes long. There's no headbanging section. I do NOT see where this comparison comes from.
I may well end up really enjoying this album, like I did with Euphoria and, to an extent Slang. But please try and be honest.
