    Amen to that

I'm serious about DL because I've been a big fan my whole life. It pisses me off when they release shit like X and Yeah.

Thankfully, I'm really digging this new album. Not as heavy as I'd have liked, but it's good.

New album sounded bland to me. Bought it along with Rock of Ages. Generic and tired. On Through the Night and High n' Dry are still my favorites. Pyromania wasn't bad. After that, their albums became good for a song or two and were otherwise crap.

Given all that - why did you buy the new album?

Because you can't stream it or DL it on Napster Plus I can't denounce an album without trying it.

You could stream it, in a trial kinda thing, from the band's website.
I just meant why did you buy it given you haven't liked anything really they've done in years and years. I'd give up on a band if I really hadn't liked their stuff in years.

I do quite like this new album though - had it on in the car today, it was a really nice sunny day and since the lyrics are so simplistic I already know most of them so was singing along at the top of my voice. It was fucking great fun, apart from the boring songs (Cruise Control and the two at the end).

Just got it. After one listen through, I thought it was pretty good. Not great, but very good. Probably their best effort since Hysteria, IMHO. (...Which isn't really saying much, considering those other albums. )

In the end, though, this is DefLep and rock & roll. Not quantum physics. It's basically ear candy, folks. And I liked the flavor.

I made up a compilation of all my favourite "rock" songs from the Def Lep albums from Slang up to Yeah. It has stuff like "Promises", "Slang", "Gift Of Flesh", "Demolition Man", "Scar" etc etc.
This new album is a bit like those songs. It's like near enough a full album worth of the best type Leppard material since Adrenalize.
They'll never come close to Pyro and Hysteria again, but AC/DC will never come close to BiB, Maiden will never come close to TNotB etc etc. As long as there's some FIRE in the new material it's at least got some integrity. Something X and Yeah never had IMO.

You have to understand Leppard are one of the bands I get very emotional about. They were my gateway into metal, I used to draw pictures of Sav's bass, Steve's Les Paul and, their logo on my school books.
They don't need to be High N Dry heavy for me to dig their new stuff, but I expect them to have balls and they haven't for a few years now.
They seem to have found them.
