WS doesn't need another that kind of player... they play material from Slip... wich needs floyded guitars and tapping etc. wich is Reb's job.
And It would have been sad to see Reb wasting his talent in Ozzy's band... fuck that fart.

      Bernie Marsden's probably available.

He wrote some of the tastiest Whitesnake material, anyway.

I bought the CD yesterday and played it all day in the car...bored to tears. I can't think of one stand out track.

Yeah, Reb would be the man covering any Slip' solos. Do they do alot of that material? I was talking about writing/ playing classic WS formulas..

No not Ozzy now..the bastid! I'm talking about post Jake era Ozzy. I think Reb or even George could have written better material back then. NRFTW had a couple good songs..so did NMT..but everything since is lame filler crap. Nothing even close to Randy or Jake in hindsight..IMO.

I think you'll find very little company that supports that view. Some of the best heavy rock of the 80's came from that man's bands...especially the first 3 studio albums.

I actually like the new WS album. Is it equal to the best of the band's '80s catalog? No, but it's still a very nice listen and some quality blues-based hard rock/metal. Aldrich's playing and tone are wonderful.

even those albums are painfully boring to my ears.. no matter who plays the guitar.... the only good stuff with him was Sabbath.... wich btw. could have needed a better vocalist anyway

I agree...after 3 days I am really liking several tracks. It is like a comfortable pair of jeans...Aldrich's playing is great...love the tone. The overall mix is great in my Acura TL...the sub really lets the bass come thru.

Been a long time since I liked a new release from anybody really. David Coverdale still sounds good too...

I say give it a try if you haven't heard it yet...

I'll always love Coverdale's voice, but I'm not really into this new album. Not really a standout track.
I LOVED the studio songs on the recent live album, I thought they were great, but nothing here is that good.

But I've never been that big a WS fan, especially the "flash" stuff. I prefer the older bluesier stuff, up to about "Slide It In".
Something like the title track to "Lovehunter" is way better than anything they've been doing in the past 20 years IMO.

Just took a listen to the new Whitesnake. It's not great but it is listenable, pretty much on the same quality level as the new Def Leppard.

I think the mistake they made is that Coverdale and Aldrich dictated too much... maybe it would have been better if they had someone coming outside and critically went over the whole production concept. The guitar tone itself isn't really bad but it's so mushy and all over the place.... it totally destroys the rhythm section. Whitesnake has always had powerful sounding drums and bounding bass. It's such a shame that you can't hear much such a talented musicians... Chris Frazier and Uriah Duffy.... specially since Uriah is the best bassist they ever had.... just incredible player... a highly demanded session pro.
And they also needed to construct better and bigger hooks.... maybe Reb should have been involved in the writing process... he knows how to make hooks.

Yeah the overall rythm sound is very mushy. They could maybe have turned the gain down on the rythm guitars a bit.
It's growing on me though, listened again today and it's getting a bit better.
