I rarely see him mentioned around here. Victor Smolski I've always liked his playing and composing. Right now, for the first time, I'm watching the DVD with Rage, Live in Wachen Open Air 2007.
Normally, I'm more of a prog death/metal kinda guy, but Holy Fuckin' shit! The band mixed with the Lingua Mortis (Symphony) Orchestra on stage is just awesome! Victor has a great tone on this DVD, playing his Yamaha guitar - perfectly mixed with the symphony orchestra. Very tasteful. And heavy!

The Suite Lingua Mortis part of the DVD is the best. Metal and violins! And the way that the symphony orchestra is grooving with the metal as the show unfolds, very shy at first, but finally throwing horns at the camera is just.... very enjoyable!

I mentioned him before before..one of my faves. I have every Rage release + rarities (aprrx 20 cds in all) ! Rag's' lastest "Carved in Stone" kicks ass..their double live one is cool. No ryhthm guitaris..whenver he takes a solo, there's nohing under him and he kills. He writes great songs , one of my favorites riff generators..on the list with Glen Drover, Andy LaRoque, Mike Wead, Andre Corbin, ect..including Criss Oliva IMO!

OH..Nuclear Blast 20th anniversary ..he's the main man in that..decent compilation with a bunch of people on it.

One helluva player, and cool dude too.
In Atlanta, he had 2 full stacks in stereo, with a rocktron intellifex for FX.
The rocktron had a prototype chip for his chorus, which sounded AMAZING
