This is all about RacerxY2k now..he's having Mothers day..:ROTF:
Hey, I actually DO think Wes Borland is a good player. The riff to "My Generation" is sweet. And Slipknot's "Gently" is a great tune. I heard their guitarist on some cd from a guitarist magazine once and he fucking smoked.

Now, glad to hear you have all Nile's stuff - everyone should. They fucking smoke!

As for Racerx2K, he only replies to things he thinks he can act smart to. I believe you have him beat, just like I did when I spoke sensibly to him. I presume he's off doing this somewhere while his kids wish he's stop posting a lot of shite on the internet and DO something worthwhile with himself.

People here that know me, know I'm the real deal. I never disrespect anything I can't own or don't deserve it. I'll never say anything I can't back up..

Well, lets say..I never have these kinds of "debate" in person..it just doesn't happen. I wouldn't have any problem with R2k in person..not at all. There would be a freindly disagreement on his part if anything..and I'd shrug it off. He wouldn't push any further..

I wouldn't know anout Wes Borland or whatever..I was listening to Nile while that was going on..

Wow, how you really do NOT know me. You're funny. Sad, but funny. I'll step up, no problem. I just had a sec, and thought I'd see how the thread was progressing....Yup, just as I thought. After the family (parents and siblings) I've been dealt with in life, you guys are child's play.

You live in the USA, I live in Scotland. Of course I do NOT know you.

You say your parents, brothers and sisters are all assholes? Family trait is it?

I'm kidding. I don't really think you're an asshole, like the Reverend Bub points out somewhat, if we were all around a table having a beer we'd be having a good laugh.
I'd win the discussion though, since I know everything and my opinion is better than yours.

COB w/o alexi's vox would sound like Sinergy. Merciful Fate w/o King Diamond is Force Of Evil. Death w/o Chuck singing sounds like Control Denied...an so on.
This might be the only truly intelligent thing said in this thread

Obviously, per my earlier posts, I don't dig the cookie monster shit (except for the original on Sesame Street...he ruled ). That said, I like al ot of the music, especially when it has a groove. I hate shit that's fast for the sake of being fast with no real substance or song behind it (ala Necrophagist...a platform for them to show off their great chops that leaves me flat every time as there is no groove whatsoever). My point all along has been that there will be the originators and true practitioners of a given genre, and then a host of second rate wannabes and trend followers will try to catch a ride on that train. This is where I feel death metal is right now as a genre, and it needs a good douching to clean out the muck and let the strong survive. I still won't like the vocals, but at least the grooves will be good.

Death metal to me is like a hot chick with a smelly gash...there's a lot of good going on but I just can't get past the stink

I still dig good power metal and have been listening to a lot of Primal Fear, Tarot, and Master Plan since Bill turned me on to them a few weeks back, as well as inspiring me to get reacquainted with Iced Earth and Helloween.

                    • Rupe ..I couldn't agree more. I hate brutal for brutal sake, or technical for technical sake without any substance. I need hooks, grooves and although subjective..musical value! Necropahgist is a good example when they where cool on Willowtip with Arsis. Both bands got too silly for their own good and now they collect dust in my collection. I was all about tradition/power metal ...until I heard Coroner's "Mental Vortex". That release has EVERYTHING you could want. Some of the very best guitar tones and playing, recorded '91. They were the ones that opened the door to heavier things. I strongly recommend Coroner's Mental Vortex..their other stuff like "No More color" and "Grin" and great too. Start with the song "Son Of Lilith"..that song and tone is truly badass!!!

To this day, I aim to get that guitar tone .mixed with old VH of course..but Tommy Veterlli (TT Baron) was from the school of VH too..so, its already in the soup!!

When I recommend something, it is of the highest caliber worth immediate attention. I never steered anyone wrong since I've been here. In fact Horns666 was/is synonmous with Nevermore. I personally brought Nevermore to this forum! I was just talking with Tim Calvert (Nevermore/Forbidden) about stopping by...Jeff's too fuggin' busy.

BTW (Nevermore/Annihilator/Shatter Messiah) Curran Murphy is recording with my bud..Ty's old band antithesis...I may do something wih them.

                        • Alright, the kiddies are asleep, and I got a sec, so I threw this up on the web, to post. It's one that I mostly wrote, aside form some lyric changes, added by the singer (Why do they always do that?), and the orchestral intro:

                          And here's a mugshot :

Oh, forgot. Had a chance to check out the VH stuff. Cool stuff. Definitely more my taste of music. Nice tone and chops, too.

                          • Cool stuff. The rhythm tone could have been a bit "bigger" but it wasn't bad. Solo tone was great.

What's up with that picture? It looks like you have one black leg and one blue leg, with an Epiphone Thunderbird bass neck sticking out of your side

                            • Well, this is for R2k..don't know your name.

                              Here's meeting ya..

                              @ my place...

my ride and some skank @ my place..

I checked out your tune. IRONICALLY, this thread is in c/w trashing bad vocals. Your singer is the weakest link IMO. He's somewhat passable and "fitting" during the intro but his harmonies are flat, weak and monotone. He remains stoic when the song kicks in, squashing potential dynamics. I'd never consider using him in any capacity. I can't find any reason for lyrical descrepancies because there's not much to them. I can't relate to writing a song that simplistic or titled "loser's day parade" without feeling like a bitch with a skinned knee. Wayyyyy..too masochistic for my taste, or my wife's. Honestly, maybe he should growl, scream, shout or something..better than whining IMO.

For what its worth, the tone and solo was decent. Get a singer with balls, a drummer w/ good meter.. a click track couldn't hurt (that's why I kicked mine out) I'm also a good bassist, and thought its nearly non exist.

You're a halfway decent player and maybe a good dude..I dunno. I been advised that you like butting heads and coming down on good people. I'd think twice before casting stones. I'll cast them back 1000 times harder..which is a necessary evil (job) for me..

Good luck to you and your music..do your thing proudly! But don't slam good people here for just doing theirs. Nobody I know is any more a poser than yourself..myself included.

Now, we're introduced. Lets move on and we could be reside here together amicably.

                              • Nice Cobra. Yours, and is it real or one of those kit cars?

Don't know who you talked to about butting head with good people, but I don't butt heads unless it's called for, and I will go to bat for others when I feel it's necessary.

Funny, since I think you're the one, posing in those pics. But, hey, we have our opinions, and we're entitled to them.

By the way, the song is "Don't". The album is Losers' Day Parade.

Good luck with the music, and post any more VH you may have. I especially dug "I'm The One". One of their best, IMO.
