You guys hating on the 6 man Maiden madness don't like 2 part harmony solos with someone playing the backing rhythm? Ok, suit yourselves.

No we just prefer Maiden to play solos live like they do on the record. Janick is a waste of space to that band, he always has been.

and i was actually proud of Janick for holding back and playing some rhythem parts during Adrians solos. they played great and sounded AMAZING!

seeing them inside an arena really made all the difference in the world.

they have one of the best FOH sound guys ever IMO. they sounded way better than Van Halen and thats mixing 3 guitars, which we all know its way easier to mix only 1 guitar. but their guy is awesome. and i'm not saying that Van Halen sounded bad, quite the opposite. but Maiden sounded better.

go see this Maiden show. do it for METAL! cause there is no Metal band better than these guys.
I was at that show too, and they were amazing. Just like the old days. No signs of age at all. They rocked!

Photos I took at the show!

Maiden is short on space? The only people angry about Janick are guitar geeks - and we're a naturally pissy jealous lot. I was disappointed as anyone when Maiden lost Adrian to his solo career, but I respect them IMMENSELY for not just discarding Janick when Smith returned. As long as he wants to hang out, rip some crazy(sloppy) solos and fling his guitar 20 feet in the air, I'll support him.

I agree actually. If they'd have dumped Jan when H came back it would have been poor form. But musically, Janick Gers has no place alongside H and Davey. Those guys are the cream of the crop. Janick's solos are just poor, random hand flapping nonsense. Nice guy I know, but musically, he has no place there.

But they have rhythm parts under the twin solos on the record. Janick fills that slot so it sounds like it does on record.

However, I never liked his "shred king" style - not enough melody for me, it's all too technical, which has never fit Maiden IMO. They did well enough before he came along and had enough technicality mixed with Pentatonics. He has zero Pentatonics appreciation

I've really come to be a big fan of Adrian Smith in the last few years. He's got great tone, I love the way bends and his vibrato. His lines are pretty simple, but they are melodic and always fit perfectly. Maiden is really one of the all time greatest metal bands. The Powerslave DVD gets constant play at my house.

As far as I can tell, they're not coming to Michigan and that really bums me out. I was thinking of making the trip to Cleveland or Chicago because I want to see them so bad.

If they don't come to you, you should go to them! It will be worth the trip. I was blown away at how good they sounded after all these years. Going to that show in Jersey was like stepping back in time. Great fun and a great experience. Especially since I took my 14 y/o son with me. He is an 80's metal head and it was what the ad says....priceless. He got to see what I got to see when I was his age.......well, a little older, but you get the point!

I've seen them a few times going back as far as when they opened for Judas Priest around 1982 on the Number Of The Beast Tour and as recently as the last time they toured. I will once again be going to the Cleveland show on 6/12/08 at Blossom Music Center. If you're in the Detroit area, thats about a 3 hour drive for you. Maiden always has a good show!

Damn! I last saw them on the Powerslave tour also. 1984...has it been that long?

I need to get out more.

What I love about Maiden is that the last two albums they have brought out are excellent, Dance of Death is melodic, haunting, and total shred, and Matter of Life and Death is moody and as Epic as hell. In my opinion, this tour is missing something .......... the newer songs!

I'm going to be at both shows in Irvine. I disguised it as a vacation to Disneyland.

June 20th is when I going so see them. I'm a late starter... My first Maiden concert was in 2003 then again on the Ozzfest tour a few years back. I missed them in th 80's for being a poor kid and couldn't afford it... and the 90's because I was a poor adult who couldn't afford it during the time they were in town.
