Eh, I thought they played way too much off of Damnation in that concert. Cool music, but not good for a live show IMHO.

I was mostly talking sound wise.
The second part they played the heavy stuff. There's over 2 hours of music there, I'd have loved to be there.

I checked the The Drapery Falls on youtube and I remember this song from the show. It got noticed, and specifically this song is the reason why I commented that "While they played confidently, and actually paid attention to how things sound..." This was one of the highlights for sure.

I think you mean Damnation, that's the mellow album. Deliverance is much heavier.

It's a little bit of everything Opeth, and is the song that got me more interested in the band. Of course, if you're out to find the next Petrucci or the next Romeo, then Opeth is definitely not your band.
I think Ghost of Perdition is a good intro to the band for the same reasons, a little bit of everything they do.

Maybe. But I seem to recall he said awhile ago he liked the mellow album.

Ive only heard Lotus Eater.... I liked it a a fair bit. I see them tommorow night, on a one off show from the DT tour, thank god i didn't have to see them with DT. DT talented, Im just not a fan. I'm hoping for a good mix, I have never actually seen them where the sound was that great.

I saw Opeth once when they opened for Nevermore on the Dead Heart In A Dead World tour, I guess it was back in the summer of 2000. I really had never listened to Opeth before and didn't pay much attention to them, but they were pretty good. It was a Thursday night, and most people seemed to be there to see Opeth and left after they played, but I, of course, was there for Nevermore, so I got to stand right in front of Jeff rockin' out! I would love to see Opeth again, though.

It was awesome! Jeff's rig was covered with a tarp, so I couldn't see what he was playing through, but he was using a blue ESP/LTD 7-string. They opened with Narcosynthesis, and then Jeff's rig went out for his solo, so he was back there fiddling with some stuff and then his sound eventually came back. Curran Murphy was their other touring guitarist at the time, and he was really good, too.
