I saw them live 2 years ago and Michael (singer) was one of the only people I ever saw on stage that managed to make the whole tent (> 1000 people) laugh with a few dry jokes. And the music was great too ofcourse

why all the secrecy, do you reckon? Last time I saw them, Jeff & Broderick were both clearly playing through Rectos. Of course, I was standing on Jeff's side of the stage down front too, but both guitarists were blindingly good.

No clue why it was all secretive. Maybe it was Line 6 stuff or something and he was ashamed to let people see what he was using.

Jeff Loomis could play through a 15 watt fender, and a squire and he would still dominate the shit out of me =(...

Saw Opeth last nite, they were really on fire, just tight as anything. Was weird seeing them without Peter Lindgren for the first time. I have to say though, Akesson is a much more authoritative player than Lindgren was, of course, and they sound better with him. Especially the clean passages, Lindgren was sometimes a bit wobbly on some of those parts, and he always used a pick, where Akesson is actually a good solid fingerpicker like Akerfeld, and the clean stuff sounded much better than usual.

They brought 3 with them off the Prog Nation tour to open, and holy shit they just ripped the house down. They were on fire. Gave Opeth a run even, although very different of course. Singer was fantastic.

Opeth set list (as best I remember):

              1. Demon of the Fall
              2. Masters Apprentices
              3. Serenity Painted Death
              4. In My Time of Need
              5. The Baying of the Hounds
              6. To Rid the Disease
              7. Wreath
              8. Heir Apparent
              9. The Drapery Falls

Just picked up the limited edition of this today, and it's kicking my ass! I thought Ghost Reveries was just okay, but Watershed seems better to me.

I picked up my regular edition last Thursday (thank god for small record stores selling stuff as early as they get it).
Listened to it at least once a day since then and it just keeps getting better. Big improvement on Ghost Reveries in my book!

I'm not sure if I like it better than Deliverance, but I'm definitely into it more than Ghost Reveries. I also picked up the Warrel Dane solo disc and want to listen to that, but I don't want to stop playing this yet! :ROTF:

The new one was released here last Saturday, but I'll pick it up next week. Warrel's new one is kicking my ass in the meantime

what didn't you guys like about Ghost Reveries? I thought it was brilliant.

I just listened to Warrel's album and love that, too!

Ghost Reveries, I don't know what it is, but I just haven't gotten into it too much. It's not bad, but maybe I just need to listen to it more.

Warrel's album is in my car, but I'm sitting here at working running "Brother" in my head. I agree with whoever it was here that said Warrel is their favourite lyricist. Great stuff!

I'm so glad I got the limited edition with Everything Is Fading, because I think that's my favorite on it so far.

No Opeth can touch Warrel's writing/hooks/ IMO. I've been listening to Opeth for over 10 years..since MAYH. Great band..but different levels IMO. Warrel would prolly disagree because he likes Opeth...he's a humble guy...but so is Akerfeldt.

Fuggums..I like both..how's this new cd anyhoo..I didn't grab it yet.
