I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

Hey, that Soto guy sounds just like Mark Wahlberg!
I love that song, great to see it actually performed live. They don't by any chance do We All Die Young?? That's my favourite song off Rockstar.

I'm alright with that song.

One can over embellish and kill the composition.
To tastefully, add to an already well written song takes skill,
it does but it doesn't...I think you kn ow what I'm saying.
This is good for creativeness, one can most certainly get some new material from it.
I know I have over the years.
However, if not careful one can kill the song very easily.
For one, an already well written song doesn't really need too much else added to it,
if anything at all from a composition/writing perspective.
Yes, a poorly or so so written song needs something added to it to help it.
So you fiddle around with it and see what you can do.
What am I getting at?
These songs in this thread aren't revolutionary.
One can't reinvent the wheel,
but one can take the wheel and do their own thing with it.
These tunes are a breath of fresh air if you will, in comparision to some if not most
of the horrendous and awful stuff thats been on radio for the last several years.
Old school sound? Depends who you talk to.
Even so, this stuff has a decent vibe to it to where I can actually listen to find the groove, the feel of the song without being annoyed with an eager and anxious guitarist over embellishing and killing the song with riffs/licks here and there.
Its simple and decent with a good vibe. I like it.
My ear hears spots when Schon could throw in a lick here and there, and live he may.
Remember, Schon isn't an inexperienced writer he definietly knows what to do with a song. Yes, its good to see him laying down some harder stuff than what we know him for. The lineup is definitely a killer lineup, and the guys are so much more capable of playing crazier stuff then what we are hearing in these tunes, thats a given.Last edited by Soap; 05-24-2008, 05:28 PM.Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

This is the FIRST thing I thought when listening to the song AND seeing Donati's name on it.
My facial expression must've been pretty picture worthy. You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.
