I finished reading the article this morning. I can't help but thinking... The sign for Musonia seems to have seen better days. I wonder if that's just age and decay or just kids throwin' rocks and stuff.

Seeing as the song has absolutley nothing to do with airplanes and that she allowed it to be included on the Tribute album tracks, and that the song is one of the crowning highlights of her son's legacy, I don't think she views it that way.

Your post might be totally sarcastic but I can't tell.

Upon further review, the guitar in the picture is NOT Randy's black Jackson...check it out.

For those of us who don't have the article and pictures tattooed to our bodies, how about an explanation of that statement?

Here's something I found from Guitar World's website as an outtake. Not sure if it will let me hot-link, but here it is. I also must admit, I never really focused on Randy's Guitars, but someone else could enlighten us..

Is that the original? I don't think so... The logo looks like a production logo, plus I think on his original Jackson, the logo was gold.

OK, I found another picture on the web of him with the black one. The original is definitely a different logo, more of the handwritten variety, and the sharkfins seem smaller on the neck.

That's not Randy's original black V. His had small sharkies, gold logo, black truss rod cover, etc. I can't recall seeing that one before. But, with that bridge and white logo, it sure looks SD-era correct.

Wow. Could it be that Randy really got 3 of them? And, all of these years, we didn't know about the third one? Or maybe GW just brought one along for the article's pics?

                        Inquiring minds want to know.

Someone on the ultimate rhoads website is saying that is the guitar Grover gave the family after Randy's death. The first production RR which would explain the differences.

Guess we won't really know for sure until someone either corners Grover at NAMM or buys him a few beers. I'll volunteer.

This photo shoot was backstage at the Los Angeles Forum in '82. Neil Zlozower took the pics from this session...about 30-40 shots, in the afternoon before soundcheck but didn't stay for the show that night...something he regrets to this day.
