Combine that look with pretty crappy music and you'll see why it was so played out that Nirvana could come along and blow them away.

That's one arguement you'll never hear me make, grunge chicks were hotter than 80's chicks. 80's chicks trump all other decades since the dawn of time.I'm angry because you're stupid

when hair metal dudes wanted to look like chicks
then grunge chicks wanted to look like dudes

One of the worse things about the 90's was...chicks wearing baggy pants! All those great asses covered up...I hated that! I'd always be thinking...*I'll bet she has a nice ass under those pants*.

I'm not really sure why I appointed myself to be the "defender of the 90's". The bands I liked were still putting out good albums. Slayer, Pantera, Megadeth, Sepultura was just hitting a good stride, Rob Halford had Fight, COC, and I was really digging Radiohead and Oasis.
I didn't like Hair Metal at all. The likes of Firehouse and Trixter made me want to puke back then. Sebastian Bach bugged the everloving shit out of me. I wanted to punch Mike Tramp right in the cockwasher. It wasn't until recently that I went back and listened to some of it and saw some musical ability. I stress the word "some". Still not my favorite thing though.
So I always thought those that liked Winger and Slaughter as being more on the Pop side of Metal. Pop-Rock. Uber-lame. Give me Reign In Blood anyday.I'm angry because you're stupid

I think no where AND they will look as ridiculous then as the hair metal guys do to you now
Are you serious? Really? Come on now. Really?
OK, first off, I'm a HUGE KISS fan. Have been since 1975. So I wasn't slaming Gene at all. Even though he's a corporate whore now. When did it quit being about the music? Oh yeah, when Ace and Peter left.
Second, do you really think no one will remember Nirvana in 4 decades? Really? You can't say that with a straight face. Nevermind will live forever as one of those albums that comes along every 10 years or so. It will be spoken in the same sentence as Sgt. Peppers and The Joshua Tree and Led Zepplin IV and albums like that.
Ditto to some extent on the first Korn album. They will still be remembered 40 years from now.
Funny how those grunge bands seem to be doing better than the hair metal bands. Alice In Chains is still quite good even without Layne. Pearl Jam always brings it. Dave moved to the Foo's and racked up Millions of albums sold.
And Brett Michaels had a reality show on VH1. That says it all.
I get you don't like it but you have to look at it for what it really is. Nevermind was a huge album that changed the face of music. WITH 4 NOTES! HA! That's the great part. 4 notes killed Hair Metal. Classic.Last edited by Bengal; 07-04-2008, 04:10 PM.I'm angry because you're stupid

I used to love Vivian's playing, and it is great, but I feel that Goldy and Rowan Robertson both blew poor Viv out of the water.
and Def Leppard, well, I have no comment, as I only care about 2 Def Leppard songs, the rest sounds about the same, and "not very good" sums it up.

Which company would "my" company edorse first? Korn. They move more albums than Vai ever thought about moving and they sell to kids with parents with a bunch of disposable income.
Vai attacts guys like me who can't afford to pay attention.
And you made a comment about grunge guys looking worse than hair metal guys. You can't be serious? Have you seen Pretty Boy Floyd? Show me a grunge band that looked worse than that. Seriously. Show me.
And grunge singers not being able to sing. Are you kidding there too? What about Chris Cornell? Great pipes on that guy. The dude for Candlebox had a good voice too. So for every Kurt Cobain I can find a Chris Cornell to trump you on that.
And just because they DON'T play solos doesn't mean that they CAN'T play solos. Don't fool yourself on that one either. I've heard Head shred, and he can shred. The dudes from Slipknot are MONSTER soloists. Check out the new album if you don't believe me.
I get it that you are jaded because your kind of metal was played out. But don't be mad at grunge, be mad at Hair Metal. They are the ones that became a fuckin' joke. Dudes like Kip Winger and Mike Tramp made young kids want to puke, can't say I blame them.
Hair Metal is to blame, not grunge.
As for the vocals, no those Grunge guys don't have a voice compared to the hair metal bands or classic rock bands. Don't believe me? Try putting together a cover band and see how many singers you get that can sing all the Grunge you want for you as compared to how many can hit Robert Plant, Brad Delp, or yes even Kip Winger. I know you think the hair metal guys were a joke but they had vocals and they had good guitar players thats for sure!
I also don't think Grunge killed off 80's rock and neither did the look. Things come in cycles and this lasted over a decade. Grunge happend to come along at that time but I don't credit it with killing off anything. Grunge itself lasted even less than 80's hair metal. Its just cycles. For those who never went to concerts in the 80's you missed out on a really good timeLast edited by roodyrocker; 07-04-2008, 04:23 PM.Rudy
