The only reason I like guys like Loomis less than a Jason Becker or Yngwie is because I prefer melody-oriented material to groove-oriented material when it comes to metal. Bill you're a bassist so it makes sense that you would be more into it than most of us here.

You know you probably haven't heard of him but theres this paul gilbert guy that plays guitar too, I'm gonna have to start a thread and see if anyone else here knows him!

Ironically it was loomis that broke the mould and allowed me to love the guitarwanking/neoclassical/sweep stuff. So say whose better all you want, I didn't care about beckers and ulis before Loomis cracked my skull open. If you can't hear the magic, go on your way and come back to it later on, cause its there.

The only reason why I knew about them before coming here, was one of my really good friends from Seattle use to open for them in small clubs up here and shared a jam club with them. BUT there is no denying that mofo can play, I like, no make that love his solo c.d. just what I've been wanting to hear.

No that post wasn't aimed at anybody but the truth, and for sure not you. What I meant was if you just met a girl or just broke up with a girl, santanna's tone and fingers will make you feel it. If somebody just kicked you when you where down, a thick ass tone and aggression (take your pick from many top notch bands) will make you feel it and piss you off to boot. Music is about how YOU feel. Not every body feels the same, or has the same emotions or SWEET spot.

I agree...Zeno Roth never gets any props..that dude sound alot like his bro.

But I know their entire body of work..I mean everything!! People who that short change Jeff do NOT know his entire body of work, not even close. I don't give a shit about his speed. Its what and how he plays it, he's extremely vesatile and dynamic. He's not just a "wanker"..If you want, I'll post some songs that should have been huge during the ebonic plague era. When NOBODY knew his name. They'd still sound fresh and awesome on the radio. He's such a gifted player...which is an understaemenet. He's even Devin Townsend's guitar hero and he sang for Steve Vai...

Uli Roth is my overall favorite guitarist..he's the best there is IMO!

Jeff Loomis is my favorite METAL guitarist/song writer.

Long live Uli Jon Roth. His playing is so inspiring. Another thing.. he is playing that stuff virtually clean. His control of both bending and vibrato together with incredible precise technique is second to none.

Steve..be nice..JS be nice!!! You both have something to offer. Steve, I like the tones you got on that recording, and the riffs you sent me a while ago that you wern't sure about. JS, you're a good player for you're age..but its all about the song. Like I said, If you have equal creative skills you can be dangerous. If not, you need direction. I'd prolly like to give a guest spot on one of my originals..and trade off. You seem to fit the bill. (pun)
