Have it..like ALL Raphl's work. He's great, but he is NO Jeff Loomis..not by any stretch. His best work is in Deicide IMO!

You'd LOVE a 7 string once you get used to it. I've been playing nothing but my 7 this month. Remember, players like Jeff Loomis, Steve Vai, Marcel Coenen, Tony MacAlpine and Uli Roth use 7 strings. They don't sound nothing like Korn. So, It's all in in a matter of context.

You don't have to play the B string. So the guitar "sounds" exactly the same..standard pitch. But the B string is there is you want it..and you will...once you hear how fuggin' EVIL it sounds comining outta yer amp!!!

With that said Zero Order Phase is the best guitar intrumental "shred" album ever recorded. Everything else falls flat in comparison..even if you base it on Jeff's tone alone! THAT is the tone I dial in whenever playing with an amp. It used to be players like Van Halen, Criss Oliva, Lynch ect..who sound so fuggin' weak these days IMO!!!

I don't like Nevermore very much, but I do like this album. I'd like it better if it wasn't on a 7 string though, I just don't like that sound so much.
But it's a very enjoyable album!

Let it be known ..I broke my music downloading cherry on "Zero order phase"...BUT I bought the cd yesterday!!!

    Hail yesterday!!!

I remember sitting in a near empty venue with Jeff well over 10 years ago. I said he was as good as anyone and that he'll make his mark! He was sitting there..peeling the label off his beer and laughing as I shared tales of ass eatin', pud slappin', and ball shavin'. Jeff's words still ring in my ears "Bill, you're fucking crazy". I prolly am, but I know greatness when I hear it!

Jeff Loomis is Metal Shred Evolution Continuum!

I can't wait to get my copy in the mail (I've had the promo copy for a while).
I don't have anything much to add to this thread.
Everyone here pretty much knows how I feel about Nevermore and Jeff loomis
"Enemies of Reality" took my guitar playing and musical interests in a completely different direction than where I had been going.

They better release that DVD here in the States soon
my 2 favorite songs on this Cd
I love what he does at the 4:00 minute mark of this tune
and how it kicks back at 4:27 (Devils theory)

Great sense of melody in this one (Sacristy)

his note choices at 1:20 are beautiful (nice Lydian phrasing)
