I'm an old goat IN THE KNOW!!!

..and I'll tell ya what! Me or guys like Nick ( and we think we suck) are closer to Jeff's level than Usama Muhammed Suicmez Rodriquez..or Dave Suzuki..or Jack Owens..or..Ralph Santolla..OK maybe not Ralph Santolla. But I could smoke Carl Sanders "cuttin' heads" anyday. I saw that fatfuck havin' a good night..NOT IMPRESSED!

Did you ever hear Jeff's death metal bands when he was a kid..he was doing this shit around '87-'92..Pat O' Brien was in both Nevermore/Cannible Corpse..and Lethal.

Necropahagist are good but just as good as other TONS of Tech or progressive death metal bands...where do I start? Arsis, Capharnuam, Symbyosis, Vital Remains, Deicide, Gory Blister, ..that list could go on for days.

    Nice Try GOR!!

I just can't listen to that. Believe me, I've tried. One of my more trusted friends listens to bands like that and always talks about how good it is. I try to listen to it, hear the vocals, either mute it or find something that doesn't feel like someone's incoherently yelling in my ear, and hope that I don't get a moderate to severe headache from listening to it. No offense to anyone who listens to it. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

I make that exact sound when I vomit, for I am the Porcelain God of Thunder!

If this is what today's youth listens to, no fucking wonder they go ape shit and do some of the crazy things they do. Now that I think about it, maybe I should give it one more listen and then go pop a cap in my ex-wife.

If you pop a cap in your ex-wife, would you mind taking my ex-wife out with a cap or two at the same time? :ROTF:

I like the Cacophony part. It sounds like an entirely different band when the lead comes in.

You just gave away the name of their next album!!!

Honestly, Endrik summed it up pretty well:

horrible thin, computer-like tone, horrible intonation, out of tune vibrato, text book cheesy neo-classical runs... wow this is breaking new grounds for sure
My son thinks these guys are amazing and was constantly trying to get me to listen to their stuff. I finally agreed that I would listen to the solos since he thought that this Muhammad guy was so amazing. The first thing that hit me was the stiffness and gymnastic-like, "look what I can do" nature of the solos. The guy has some chops but really doesn't say anything with them.

So I explained to my son that this guy was simply taking the same basic major and minor sweep arpeggios and beating the listener over the head with them, "like this...", and I proceeded to play a barrage of them. Instead of him getting the fact that there is no substance to soloing like that, he now thinks I'm better than he ever knew and can't understand why I don't play like that live Ultimately I guess it's "to each his own" but I simply don't get the appeal of music like this...all flash and shock affect, no substance.

Dude how can you be serious? You slag some really good shit, and some shit you like, i really like too, then i just don't get you when you make statements like this.
The band is fucking awesome on all levels.
AWESOME guitar tones, riffs and production, also love the vocals, that dude can play that shit AND do the vocals blows me away.
I can understand some never will be able to digest these kind of vocals, but the riffs and just sheer brutality and how clealy and tight it's played.
Saying its cheezy this and that is BULLSHIT, cause you only wish you were half as good.

I'm nearing 40 and love all types of music and tones styles ect.. but
This shit is fucking Tops, they have one of the best production, guitar sounds and musical ability of any band in the genre, as well as just in metal period. I love the guitar tones on this, it's fucking brilliant, great clean lead tone.
I know a lot of people like Loomis, but, Loomis' sound is about as derivitive as a guitarist could be, some shit just plainly ripped from the ultimate shredder handbook.
He's good, but original? Not even close.
I remember watching and playing against him back before he was in Nevermore in guitar competitions around Seattle, he always won, and sent me packing, but i'd never say he was original or broke any new ground.
I felt he would probably make it somewhere tho, just because he had the text book shit down so well.
There were better guitarists in my opinion around here that deserved to be huge from back in the late 80's early 90's that didn't get the recognition they deserved.
Anyone remember Forced Entry? Brad was far more original a guitarist than Loomis.

first of all I don't know why there is a comparison between Loomis and this guy.
they're both good players, IMO Loomis writes better music............period.
Now this guy is pretty good as well (and hopefully will be playing alongside Loomis on the next Nevermore tour).

frankly I don't care much about Loomis' lead playing but I do know one thing... he plays IN TUNE!!!
if you don't hear that this dude has a bad intonation then it's your problem.
                                and that tone sucks balls!
