lol no they didn't. they became a more extreme metal band after that album maybe, but they were most certainly metal before and had already incorporated thrashier elements in their music by the time i am the night came out in 1985/6 i think it was

Accept would be at the top of my list, i started to try to post mine, but just can't narrow down to 10, and in my opinion half of what's being posted here is not metal, widley refered to as metal, but not metal.
