I've seen this vid a few times now and there's no denying Govan's talent as a player. He is the sh#t!

I'm guessing you prefer the Govan vid over the unknown one because Govan has a tone and sound that appeals to you more so than the "cheap," if you will, rig the unknown guy plays through.

I'm sure if the unknown player had a tone, sound and good equipment as Govan did, you' like him just fine. If he was thin, good looking and had long hair, I'm sure that would add to the effect as well.

I'm too old to be jealous of players that are better than me and believe you me, there are thousands out there that blow my doors. I excel in other areas. However technically? That chubby dude has got it! I'm impressed as hell.

I'm just glad that "kids" are actually picking up and playing guitar still, i really thought "playing" music had actually died with the last generations of kids out there.

Things like Youtube and PC's have really changed the landscape from what it was back in the 80's and 90's you were on your own, everyone would all gather at the guys house who just got the new george lynch instructional or whatever, or if you could afford it you could go to MIT in LA and become a EVH/GL/PG clone, now it's completely open and whatever you want to know can be found with a click of the mouse.
Kids now are playing stuff that took me years to learn, understand, accomplish in a very short time.
but i'm not bitter...

Guthrie's outstanding. I could listen to his playing all day. The Brazilian guy in the other link was pretty amazing too.

As for the first video, I think its pretty cool that a girl is interested in technical guitar/metal. She's kinda cute too...

Was it good? Not really, but she's a youngin. Give her time.

Exactly ! Well said..ive learned more from stealing on line in the last
year, than i ever learned in the 80's! And ive been playing since 1965!
Your right...you were excited if you met a guitar player who knew a
couple more licks, so that he could share them with you...but mostly
you were on your own! I remember Bob at Bizarre Guitar showing me
the intro lick to "Girls, Girls...Girls...and i was confused as to why the
E had to be tuned to D' ! It was a new concept to me! He said.."i dont
know why"! The other guy who showed me, just said that's how Mick
does it" !... Slow learning back in the day...
