  • Michael Lee Firkins.

I've known about MLF for quite a bit now because of Jason Becker. It wasn't till recent that I picked up his first album Michael Lee Firkins - Michael Lee Firkins.

Damn, what a killer instrumental, it is truely awesome. The song Rain In The Tunnel has such a beautiful melody and such great chord voicing.

    Anyone else here MLF fans?

Yep...a technique allot like Mark Knoffler... great phrasing! Someone
posted, that they are still in contact with Firkins today, and he still
plays unbelievable! I think he has 3 albums out?

I only have his first cd, but it is still phenomenal to hear.
The first time I heard him play was at the NAMM show
shortly before the release of his first album. It was awesome.
Jeff Pilson was playing live with him (he's also on the album).
There was quite a large audience. Mike Varney (Shrapnel Records)
was standing there like a proud papa. Paul Gilbert was standing
next to him watching the whole thing.
