Yeah, I respect the guys playing ability but seriously lose the KFC bucket and the Halloween mask.

Saying that you wear the mask so people only pay attention to the music is bullshit because the only thing people are going to pay attention to is some 9 foot tall dork wearing a mask and a bucket.

The Bucket and Mask make him Unique along with his playing.
There are thousands of gifted players out there, but none will ever get heard of because they didn't have that extra thing to put them over the edge and make people check them out.

I think it works for him and the type of playing he does.

Saw him twice at wakarusa festival in 06. Meh. sounded better when he jammed with les claypool.
Its a complete catastrophe. But Im a professional, I can rise above it. LOL

All right! He's comming to Cleveland!
As far as I'm concerned he can stay with Dean and play his dots+fins KV copies, and whatever that aborted fetus he "designed". More like "I saw it in my puke". -Newc

He's so freaking talented that I don't care what kind of gimmick that he employs to gain attention. The man is one of the absolute best, most well-rounded players on the planet. I don't necessarily like all of his music, but he is an amazing talent.

He is a very talented and gifted guitarist. As for the outfit, I never thought
it was needed and initially interpreted it as some mildly disturbing oddity.
I guess it is his proverbial "eleven".

The Buckethead gimmick is out there....yes. But so is his playing. And if that's what he has to do to get his genius of inspiration to the public...whatever. Can't wait to see him live. Shred on Buckethead!

But I didn't hear anything there to make me think the guy is any good (not in anything other than a technical sense anyway).
I don't want to say anything nasty as you guys clearly enjoy what he does, but I really dont understand the attraction. His weird lifestyle and the cardboard box are bad enough, but every time a thread like this appears people post videos to show how great he is and they always suck.
If I'm going to listen to someone shred, it'll be Paul Gilbert or Satch. Or even Vai.
Guys who didn't need a box on their head for the public to sit up and take notice - just great songs and playing.

He's good..But I think Vai goes a little left of center at times ..so.
